Job Description
Sheladia Associates, Inc. is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Resident Engineer to assume a critical role in our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing essential support to the Design Review and Construction Supervision Consultancy (CSC) Services for the East Bank Demerara Road Improvement Project in Georgetown, Guyana. This position demands a high level of expertise and commitment to ensure the successful execution of this significant infrastructure project.
The Resident Engineer will be entrusted with the following crucial responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive quality audit plan for the project, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of engineering excellence and regulatory compliance.
- Rigorously oversee the Contractor's proposed dispositions for non-conformances and corrective actions, maintaining unwavering commitment to project integrity and safety.
- Exercise professional judgment in concurring with proposed satisfactory dispositions and diligently follow up on any dispositions or corrective actions to be undertaken, ensuring full resolution of all issues.
- Meticulously document and provide the as-built information required for inclusion in the As-Built Plans, guaranteeing accurate and complete project records for future reference and maintenance.
- Produce detailed and precise monthly progress reports, offering critical insights into project status, challenges, and achievements to facilitate informed decision-making at all levels of project management.
Qualifications
- Must have bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (Master’s degree preferable) as well as professional qualifications such as Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer or equivalent.
- Must possess 20 years of general experience and at least 15 years of experience in the sector with 10 years of experience in road construction supervision and design review projects
- Must have knowledge of best international practices and modern highway construction technologies.
- Must have experience in construction supervision and contract administration, quality control of roads, highways, and bridges projects in developed and/or developing countries funded by multilateral funding agencies
- Must have a proven record of having worked as Resident Engineer for construction supervision and management of at least TWO major highway projects of similar nature and should have experience in various contract modes including FIDIC design-build contracts.
- Must be fluent in both spoken and written English language.
