In the Cloud tribe, in the Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS) area, the position of Product Owner for Cyber Recovery has become available.
With your pragmatic and delivery-oriented professional attitude, you put your background and experience to good use as Product Owner for Cyber Recovery.
Together with the (partial virtual) squad, the architects and the IT Area Lead you set the goals and work on a technical strategy to achieve those goals. You take ownership of the agreed solution ensuring that solutions delivered meet customer and business needs whilst adhering to legal, risk, and compliance requirements of the bank.
You will not be HR responsible for the engineers in the squad, because that responsibility lies with the chapter leads that we have in the Netherlands, in Poland and in Spain.
The team
The purpose of the Global Tribe Cloud is to build and run the target infrastructure platform in a (private) cloud delivery model. This delivery model is based on multi-tenant, self-service, pay-per-use capabilities for application DevOps teams as defined in the One Way of Working.

Roles And Responsibilities
- Manage the Cyber Recovery product vision and roadmap, aligning with ING’s global resilience strategy.
- Steer teams to eliminate manual work (toil) through automation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Cyber Security, Infrastructure, Risk, and Business Continuity to ensure seamless integration and operational readiness.
- Drive innovation in recovery architecture, including immutable storage, air-gapped solutions, and automated recovery orchestration
- Monitor and report on recovery readiness, ensuring compliance with regulatory expectations and internal risk appetite.
- Champion awareness across ING on the critical differences between cyber recovery and conventional restore processes—emphasizing speed, integrity, and trust in recovery outcomes.
Roles And Responsibilities
- You manage the product (end-to-end), you are accountable for the product vision, and you define the roadmap of the product to maximise business value through ordering and prioritisation of the Product Backlog under consideration of the stakeholders’ needs
- In prioritising the backlog, you take into account both functional and non-functional requirements such as risks, reliability, IT Run, LCM, etc…
- You are responsible for the “WHAT” a product team does; and you represent the stakeholder's voice.
- You coordinate and ensure the alignment of the Product Managers across all the squads that are delivering to your Product Backlog, in order to minimise dependencies and maximise delivery and velocity.
- You organise regular stakeholder updates where you provide product updates and escalate impediments.
- You periodically discuss and review squad performance metrics with the Product Owners in your delivery area. You ensure that the product vision remains clear across the squad members.
- You ensure adherence to Process Control Standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in IT resilience, disaster recovery, or cybersecurity domains.
- Proven track record as a Product Owner or similar role in a complex, international environment.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., DORA, NIS2) and their implications on recovery planning.

- Ability to manage a Product in an international context.
- Ability to work successfully in multiple countries and cross functional teams, make sure these different cultures and backgrounds will work together as one team; considering different habits, beliefs, languages and time-zones.
- Understanding of Global Infrastructure.
- Capability to steer the delivery of various initiatives with both direct and indirect influence.
- Ability to create a manage Product roadmaps and Product Vision.
- Ability to manage different stakeholders and their priorities.
- Ability to interpret and understand IT requirements and implications.
- Strong ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate product vision and updates to stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and productivity.
- Flexibility to work in our fast-paced Global Infrastructure environment and adapt to changing priorities and conditions.
Skills
- Strong understanding of cyber threat landscapes and how they impact recovery strategies.
- Expertise in modern backup technologies, immutable storage, and recovery automation.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills—able to translate technical concepts into business value.
- Agile mindset with experience in Scrum or SAFe methodologies.
- Analytical and strategic thinking, with a passion for building resilient systems that protect ING’s customers and operations.
