What Application Development & Maintenance contributes to Cardinal Health
Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.
Application Development & Maintenance performs configuration or coding to develop, enhance and sustain the organization's software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. This job family programs and configures end user applications, systems, databases and websites to achieve the organization's internal needs and externally-facing business needs. Application Development & Maintenance partners with business leaders, investigates user needs and conducts regular assessments, maintenance and enhancements of existing applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy software solutions that align with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
- Lead collaborative, cross-functional requirements and solution design to ensure efficient business process designs across multiple complex functional domains.
- Collaborate with senior technical leads, business SMEs, functional and validation teams, software consulting partners, shared services, and managed services teams.
- Maintain and manage technical documentation for systems and solutions.
- Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
- Implement software using a combination of out-of-the-box configurations, process extensions, and custom scripts or code.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries; deliver creative synergies & connected, optimized, robust data analysis across databases like PostgreSQL, Oracle, and DB2 to reduce friction for our vendors and customers across DSCSA Exceptions.
- Contribute to the development of the organization’s multi-year technology roadmap.
Qualifications
- 4-8 years of experience, preferred
- Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
- Core Supply Chain & Logistics: Strong cross application (ERP & WMS) foundation of procurement, order fulfillment, and reverse logistics operating at significant scale.
- Options Analysis & Problem Solving: Broad ability to deeply understand and connect with variety of business stakeholders at tactical and strategic levels, drive Key Decision Document Frameworks, influence without authority, and excellent problem-solving & communication skills.
- Database Skills: Intermediate SQL skills and highly inquisitive mindset to empower data driven development and decision making across PostgreSQL, Hana, Oracle, and NoSQL DBs.
- Architecture & Design: Knowledge of cloud-native architecture, 12-factor app principles, and agile/DevOps methodologies.
- Monitoring & Logging: Experience with tools like Splunk and Dynatrace for application monitoring and logging.
- Event-Driven Architecture: Experience integrating Kafka for real-time data streaming and decoupled service communication.

Anticipated salary range: $94,900 - $142,380
