Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, this position involves coordinating various duties, assisting students with class selection and scheduling, and supporting special events related to potential and current participants. The role requires occasional travel, active engagement with students, community members, and industry partners, and flexibility in work hours. The Program Specialist will contribute significantly to the success of IRSC students and programs.
Specific Duties And Responsibilities:
- Coordinate student recruitment activities and special events.
- Plan, schedule, and conduct meetings.
- Assist in marketing and recruitment of students from special populations for the School of Nursing.
- Advise grant students as needed on schedules and programmatic requirements.
- Assist with linking grant participants to on-campus and community resources as needed to promote student success.
- Support and process potential and current grant participants application and registration processes.
- Monitor and maintain a database for Nursing student documents.
- Provide New Student Orientation for Nursing programs for grant participants;
- Assist with community reach-out initiatives.
- Travel to branch campuses as needed and require flexible work hours.
- Complete other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge And Skill Requirements:
- Associates Degree from an accredited institution; or Coursework or job experience in a field related to education, health and human services, management or a closely related field;
- Minimum of a year (1) year documented work with higher education students;
- Experience with advising and working with students in higher education;
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to problem-solve and collaborate;
- Ability to communicate effectively and work independently, multi-task, and be self-motivated;
- Experience managing multiple projects at once;
- Specific knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint and Access;
- Knowledge of IRSC School of Nursing programs;
- Ability to interact diplomatically with a diverse population such as students, support staff, faculty, and College administrators in a professional, diplomatic, and timely manner;
- Clerical/administrative office experience, with professional receptionist experience;
- Proven work experience with basic clerical skills to include typing, word processing, database entry, and filing;
- Ability to provide presentations using PowerPoint for recruitment activities;
- Work is reliable and accurate;
- Valid Florida driver’s license.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to safely lift, hold, and carry up to 50 pounds of supplies and/or equipment needed for student training;
- Manual dexterity and balance required for demonstrating applications;
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time, walk, bend, lift, reach with hands and arms, and stoop;
- Ability to present verbal lectures/demonstrations;
- Vision abilities sufficient to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus;
- Excellent hand-eye coordination skills required to demonstrate appropriate skills required of the program;
- Ability to travel to and pick up miscellaneous materials/supplies from local vendors for student training and make good purchasing decisions or substitutions;
- IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
