Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Staff Product Designer to help define the future of mobile financial banking experiences with bold design thinking and a founder’s mindset. The ideal candidate deeply understands user needs, transforms complex problems into elegant solutions, and elevates the standard of design excellence across our products. This role requires a designer who can work autonomously while thriving in collaboration—someone who inspires peers, fosters creativity, and drives innovation. Candidates must bring proven experience leading and motivating teams to design experiences rooted in research, data, and empathy, delivering solutions that are both intuitive and impactful.
Job Duties
Elevate the design standards for a team of designers
- Champion the MX product design vision by setting the benchmark for design excellence.
- Uphold and elevate design quality for the next generation of the MX mobile product.
- Ensure consistent standards for usability, accessibility, and visual design for a team of designers.
- Advance and scale the MX design system with other design partners.
- Mentor and coach junior designers - helping them level up their game in core competencies.
Ensure solutions are validated through research and evidence
- Champion a user-centered approach by grounding design decisions in data, research, and customer insights.
- Partner with research and product leadership to frame problem spaces and validate design strategies.
- Ensure solutions are evidence-based and outcome-driven.
Manage complex projects to drive strategic impact
- Lead product design direction across multiple complex initiatives concurrently.
- Take ownership of timelines, deliverables, and communication across multiple projects.
- Prioritize tasks effectively to balance speed, quality, and stakeholder needs.
Collaborate with cross functional teams to gain team alignment
- Collaborate with sales, product and engineering leads to shape roadmaps.
- Translate abstract business or client requirements into actionable design strategies.
- Advocate for user experience as a driver of business impact.
- Lead workshops to clarify requirements and co-create solutions.
- Advocate for design thinking to resolve ambiguity and build consensus.
Represent MX product design with clients and executives
- Present design strategy and product vision to clients and executives with clarity and influence.
- Synthesize client or stakeholder feedback into actionable recommendations without compromising user value.
- Act as a trusted advisor in high-stakes conversations, balancing design excellence with business priorities.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in product design with a proven track record at the staff or managerial level.
- Demonstrated success in shaping product vision, design strategy, and cross-functional outcomes.
- Experience mentoring and coaching a team of designers with the objective of leveling up core competencies in strategy and technical skills.
- Skilled at facilitating workshops and strategic sessions that drive clarity and alignment.
- Strong track record of influencing leadership and executives to prioritize user experience.
- Deep understanding of usability, accessibility, and interaction principles across platforms.
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to inspire, align, and influence at all levels.
- Portfolio of design case studies demonstrating impact, not just execution, of cross-platform experiences.
