Salary:

$6,675 - $10,335/per month Non-PERS

$7,076 - $10,956/per month PERS

What You Will Do:

In this role you will lead the digital and social media strategy for the Secretary and the four public facing divisions of the Secretary of State’s office: Audits, Corporation, Elections, and the State Archives. You will be responsible for planning, managing, and creating content for all social media posts for the agency, this includes rapid response. You will work with the communications team and other staff members to generate and collect content for social media and the website. On an as needed basis, you will be asked to review public facing content to ensure that it aligns with the agency brand, such as the website and slide decks, and design a limited number of print materials, such as memos or signs.

This is accomplished in part by, but not limited to:

  • Using Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, and other design tools to create digital and print content.
  • Managing the strategy for, tracking tasks related to, and posting all social media content.
  • Creating engaging social media content, including text posts, images, interactive content, and concepts and scripts for videos.
  • Staying up to date on social media trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Monitoring engagement on social media channels and analyzing performance.
  • Attending in person events and meetings to capture content.
  • Scheduling and directing content filming.
  • Managing A/V equipment and training relevant staff on how to use it.
  • Facilitating monthly social media strategy meetings.
  • Training agency staff on the proper use of the agency brand.
  • Creating and providing editorial oversight of agency branded materials, such as memos, slide decks, the website, and brochures.

Your application must demonstrate education and/or experience in the following: 

A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, the Behavioral or Social Sciences or related degree and two years professional level experience in Public Relations or Affairs

OR
Five years experience directly related to the position under recruitment; two of the five years must have been at the professional level.

  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects on a continual basis
  • Ability to maintain strong organization and time management skills with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to independently plan and make decisions regarding social media, other digital media, and design.
  • Ability to advise the Deputy Chief of Staff – Communications, the Executive Team, and the Secretary of State on matters related to social media, digital media, and graphic design.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to track and manage a high volume of events and opportunities for communication on digital channels.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain a strong and consistent brand across digital and print materials.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and best practices. Identify opportunities to update and receive new training, as needed.
  • Possess an unwavering commitment to producing extremely high quality work product.
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful, and productive work environment that values integrity, accountability, competence, and equity.
  • Possess expert level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess expert level graphic design and social media management skills.

Preference may be given to applicants who are bilingual, have experience editing videos, or have experience managing major social media campaigns.
