Summary

This position is primarily responsible for developing and championing a strategy that will enable business unit decision making based on data analysis and interpretation. Using this data-driven approach will enable business units to identify trends over time which can inform effective practices, help provide transparency on opportunities and illuminate possible innovations & solutions. This position will also drive efficiency and productivity by ensuring high value productivity initiatives are funded and executed successfully.

Manages a small team that works closely with the business along with the functional partners across the firm to achieve these goals. Leads the development and communication of the business unit strategy. Actively participate and engage with the immediate leadership team and wider business in support of strategic decision making and the delivery of strategic projects.

Job focus is on managing others and applying operational or strategic management skills. Management responsibilities and decisions likely include hiring, performance reviews, pay decisions and development. Achieves goals mostly through work of others. Provides leadership and direction through managers. Is accountable for the performance and results of a division or region.

Reporting to the Practice Executive, Market Operations, this key leadership role will act as point of coordination and collaboration between the COO Enterprise 1LOD, 2LOD, and 3LOD teams and the Market Operations business unit teams to manage and mitigate risk associated with business unit controls and operational resiliency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the capability owners to drive consistency and standardization globally across Market Operations to ensure compliance with organizational policies, standards and controls and effectively execute the following business processes to include (but not limited to):
  • 1LOD testing (RCSA, SOC/SOX, other controls)
  • RCSA Execution/Risk Identification
  • Issues Management
  • Risk Events, Accounting Servicing Losses (ASLs), and root cause reviews.
  • Internal audits and regulatory exams
  • Business process/procedures documentation
  • Risk reporting (KPI/KRI)
  • Related enabling training and communications
  • Develop engagement approach and accountability between Market Operations and 1LOD, 2LOD, and 3LOD functions to enable compliance and manage and mitigate across risk categories.
  • Routinely gather data, insights, and status of programs and prepare and provide meaningful updates to senior leadership, Enterprise Risk and COO Risk Committees, and regulators.
  • Accountable to create and manage capacity plan and execution against timing and key deliverables requested by key risk stakeholder groups.
  • Promote a culture of inclusiveness, accountability, continuous improvement, and process excellence. Foster a risk-aware empowered culture.

Qualifications | Experience | Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
  • Proven experience in the financial services industry with in-depth expertise in Control, Resiliency, Compliance, or Audit functions within a regulated environment
  • Global management experience working across Legal Entity structures and locations.
  • Background in Cash, Securities, and/or Capital Markets
  • Program/Project management experience preferred.
  • Expert at synthesizing multiple data sources and information to develop and articulate a cohesive view of the risk environment and potential impacts to the business/firm.
  • Highly capable of analyzing and assessing risk and control matters and driving collaborative decision making.
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change, often managing multiple priorities and stakeholders and able to easily adjust to changing needs/deliverables/timing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and executive presence needed to influence and persuade others and drive key messages and change across a broad, diverse, matrixed stakeholder group.
