CPI Technician (Blood Component Processing and Inventory Management Lab) - Blood Supply Management Division

[What the role is]

We are looking for an individual to be part of the Blood Services Group (BSG), Blood Supply Management Division. The appointee for this position will be a Component Processing & Inventory (CPI) Technician who will work in a laboratory setting, supporting the national blood program and is responsible for the processing, testing, inventory management and distribution of blood and blood products from whole blood donations. All blood units that are collected are processed at the CPI Lab on a daily basis, Mondays – Sundays. On job training will be provided. If selected, you will work 5 days a week, including weekends and public holidays as rostered. As the labs run 24/7, you will be assigned to work either morning, afternoon or night shift across a rotating roster.

[What you will be working on]

• Basic whole blood separation, platelet, and frozen plasma preparation
• Complex blood component preparation and modification procedures (sterile connecting, filtration, pooling, splitting) to obtain specialised blood components based on clinical demand
• Blood product labelling and proper segregation of non-conformance products from inventory products
• First-In-First-Out blood product inventory movement for fulfilment of hospital orders
• Cold chain maintenance with proper packing material and configuration for blood transport

[What we are looking for]

• Open to work in a laboratory setting
• Able to work weekends/PH, afternoon and night shifts
• Working experience in a processing/laboratory setting is an advantage
• Candidates with no relevant working experience are welcome to apply
