​We are seeking a Test Engineer to join our team in Alexandria, VA, supporting critical cloud transformation efforts for the United States Coast Guard at C5ISC.​ In this key role, you will be instrumental in migrating and modernizing legacy mission-critical systems into the Coast Guard's Mission Cloud.

As a Test Engineer, you will design, develop, and execute automated tests to ensure the quality and reliability of cloud migrations and services through a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery Pipeline. You will play a crucial part in developing Infrastructure as Code, streamlining testing, reducing defects, and accelerating cloud migration processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • ​Participate in program Agile initiatives to support innovation and enhancement of infrastructure automation and maintenance through iteration/functionality testing within a cloud environment. 
  • ​Collaborate with team members (Scrum Master, Cloud Engineer, DevSecOps) to develop test approaches with emphasis on automation of recurring/regression test cases through selected toolsets 
  • ​Leverage DevOps practices to ensure repeatability and Configuration Management of test cases/scripts are maintained and continuously improved 
  • ​Develop and document end-to-end functionality test case narratives using task management system (JIRA/Confluence) and support performance testing/evaluation activities. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires BS and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2+ years of prior relevant experience, additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Understanding of monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and Prometheus.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts including VPC, subnets, load balancers, and DNS.
  • Proficient in major cloud providers, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong understanding of cloud services architecture, networking, storage, and compute resources.
  • Experienced in cloud-native testing approaches and distributed systems testing.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager, and Ansible.
  • Capable of writing, reviewing, and testing infrastructure code.
  • Familiar with version control for infrastructure and GitOps practices.
  • Knowledgeable in automated testing frameworks and tools, including Selenium, pytest, and Jest.
  • Proficient with API testing tools like Postman, REST Assured, and SoapUI.
  • Experienced in performance and load testing using tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, and k6.
  • Understanding of security testing fundamentals.
  • Familiar with migration testing strategies and validation approaches.
  • Knowledgeable about disaster recovery and backup testing.
  • Experienced in multi-region and cross-availability zone testing.
  • Skilled in cloud cost optimization validation.
  • Familiar with compliance and security testing in cloud environments.

​Preferred Qualifications:

  • ​Cloud provider certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Fundamentals, GCP Associate) 
  • ​Testing certifications (ISTQB, CSTE)  
  • ​DevOps or automation-focused certifications.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
