Role Title
Health & Safety Specialist
Your Role
Applications are currently being invited for the role of Health & Safety Specialist. Reporting to the Occupational Safety Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing health and safety advice and support to operational areas in the on-going development and delivery of a range of health and safety support services designed to protect our valued workforce and increase our Safety Culture, through continual improvement.
Legal Compliance & Good Practice
- Ensuring our operations teams are aware of their legal and corporate obligations, including any anticipated changes.
- Communicating and coordinating the adoption of aviation industry good practice in occupational health and safety.
- Conducting occupational health & safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance, recommending remedial actions where necessary.
- Developing and maintaining safety management systems.
- Review contractor and service provider documentation as part of the Permit-to-Work System.
- Conducting Risk Assessments as & when necessary.
H&S & Organisational Development
- Influencing employee work practices through dialogue, relationship building and behavioural safety coaching.
- Coaching management teams in the adoption of proven safety leadership principles to manage their health and safety challenges.
- Identifying metrics to improve occupational safety performance, and developing strategic approaches to manage risk.
Driving H&S Initiatives & Monitoring
- Supporting the investigation of incidents and ensuring corrective actions are defined and implemented.
- Monitoring and reporting on health and safety performance and improvement actions using a suite of key performance indicators.
- Empowering Managers and Supervisors to be Safety Leaders and manage work practices safely.
- Supporting the development and implementation of Health and Safety/Well-being initiatives.
Your Qualifications And Key Criteria
To be considered for the role of Health and Safety Specialist, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- 3rd Level Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related discipline.
- 3+ years’ experience in a Health and Safety management environment. (Experience in aviation would be advantageous).
- Experience in developing and maintaining internationally recognised occupational safety management systems (I.e. ISO45001 & ISO45003).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Personable and approachable.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at management and operator levels within an organisation.
- A team player (with ability to work off own initiative when required).
- Proficient in the use of MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook.
- Experience in Interpreting safety metrics and effectively communicating insights to leadership to drive action and accountability.
- Provide 2 verifiable references.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Eligible to live and work in the EU.
- Current unrestricted worldwide passport.
- Be in possession or be able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5 year background check* (or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport this position is based in Dublin).

- Chartered member of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) or seeking to
- obtain this qualification.
- QQI Certificate in Training Delivery and Evaluation.
- ISO 45001:2018 Internal Auditor Certificate.
