We are currently seeking a Financial Accounting Intern at our ATI Specialty Materials facility located in Monroe, North Carolina, reporting to the General Accounting Manager. The General Accounting Team is responsible for performing daily accounting operations, month-end close process, financial reporting, while maintaining effective internal controls. As an Accounting Intern, you’ll work collaboratively across other finance functions (Cost Accounting, FP&A, and Payroll). This is a year-round day shift schedule position, Monday through Friday with flexibility on days to work based on school schedule. This position requires an onsite presence and cannot be done remotely.
Primary Responsibilities
As a Finance Intern you will provide support services within the Finance Department. This will include, but not limited to:
- Assist with month-end and year-end close tasks
- Support Accounts Receivable
- Participate in the development of policies, procedures and practices that are essential to internal controls
- Coordinate internal and external audits
- Lead process improvements within your statement of work
- Collaborate on special projects
- Support Ad-Hoc requests
Basic Qualifications
- A student actively pursuing a degree in Finance and/or Accounting
- Business Analytics/ Data Analytics/ Data Visualization skills
Preferences
- Highly prefer a candidate seeking a Bachelor's, or other higher level, degree
Additional Skills
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently
- Able to prioritize, multi-task and maintain attention to detail
- Capable of working in teams and building good relationships with a high degree of personal integrity, trust and work ethics
- Proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) with exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Detail oriented, reliable, efficient, conscientious and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively and in a friendly and personable manner with employees and the general public
- Promptness is extremely important
- Must be a team player
