Overview
Broadly, law clerks will perform legal research on current utility regulations, write memos for the General Counsel regarding new developments in utility billing and correspond with municipalities and property management. Legal research centers on Federal, State, and Local issues of agency law, contracts, real estate leases, and landlord-tenant law.
This position will work closely with the attorneys in the Legal Department, Account Managers, and property management teams across the United States.
Law clerks will gain exposure to both transactional work and litigation, state agency proceedings, and administrative rules and regulations.
Responsibilities
As a Law Clerk, you will:
- Audit properties to ensure compliance with rules and regulations
- Tracking administrative and legislative updates
- Responds to and resolves resident complaints filed with Public Utility Commissions
- Drafts legal memoranda related to privacy acts, moratoriums, local and state utility billing rules
- Legal research concerning utility allocation methods, billing requirements, and utility billing practices
- Additional duties based on experience and qualifications

Education
- Law degree from an ABA accredited law school
