WSP’s Rail, Maritime & Freight team in Australia is seeking a talented Design Manager – Maritime Infrastructure to lead the delivery of complex, high-impact maritime projects across the country.
Reporting to the Regional Manager, Rail, Maritime & Freight, this is a rare opportunity to shape the future of Australia’s ports, intermodal facilities, and coastal infrastructure through innovative design leadership. You’ll be joining a nationally respected and globally connected Maritime team, contributing to some of the most technically challenging and rewarding projects in the sector.

The position can be based in either Melbourne or Sydney.
You Will:
- Lead the delivery of large, complex Design & Construct (D&C) and detailed design maritime infrastructure projects across Australia.
- Provide strategic design oversight from concept through to detailed design phases.
- Provide strategic design leadership across multidisciplinary teams focused on port and intermodal infrastructure.
- Work closely with contractors to lead and coordinate design delivery, ensuring alignment with construction methodologies and project objectives.
- Manage project scope, quality, budget, and schedule with precision and accountability.
- Collaborate with global maritime specialists to deliver world-class solutions.
- Engage directly with clients to understand needs and deliver tailored outcomes.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and career growth.
- Contribute to business development through proposal leadership and industry engagement.
- Represent WSP at maritime industry events, including presenting technical papers and thought leadership.
You Will Have:
You're a highly experienced design professional with a passion for maritime infrastructure and a track record of delivering complex projects. Your background includes:
- Degree qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven experience in the design and delivery of maritime infrastructure (e.g. ports, terminals, coastal structures).
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent communication and technical reporting skills.
- A collaborative mindset and ability to work across disciplines and geographies.
- Commercial awareness and client-focused approach.
- A desire to contribute to industry innovation and sustainability.
