Loreto Community Housing owns or manages properties throughout Tasmania. We are also building many new homes across the state. However, we are about much more than managing and building properties. As well as providing a comprehensive and responsive tenancy management service, we have a strong social commitment to enhancing the wellbeing of our tenants and the communities in which we work.
Role Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Community Engagement Coordinator to join our team on a temporary Parental Leave Cover term. The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in activating and supporting thriving, connected communities. Grounded in community development principles, the role works alongside tenants and local stakeholders to co-design and deliver initiatives that strengthen social connection, inclusion, and wellbeing.
Skills:
- Applied knowledge of community development, engagement, and social inclusion frameworks
- Able to facilitate inclusive, culturally safe engagement activities and co-design processes with tenants and communities
- Identify and support opportunities for tenant and community leadership, participation in local projects, and involvement in decision-making processes.
- Lead the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation practices, using both qualitative and quantitative methods to measure impact and support continuous improvement.
- Ability to build strong relationships with external partners and internal teams to ensure collaboration and alignment on community engagement initiatives.
- Ability to Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including the preparation of grant submissions to support community-led initiatives and wellbeing programs.
- Maintain accurate records of engagement activities, financial records, outcomes, and tenant interactions to support reporting, evaluation, and reflective practice.
- Preparation of regular reports on the reach, outcomes, and impact of community engagement activities.
Responsibilities:
- Working in partnership with tenants to ensure their voices shape the design, delivery, and evaluation of community services, projects, and initiatives.
- Strengthening local networks and relationships by collaborating with community organisations, service providers, and place-based groups to enhance access to support and resources.
- Facilitating inclusive, strengths-based programs and events that promote participation, belonging, and tenant-led action.
- Supporting community-led initiatives that build tenant capacity, connection, and access to both internal supports and external services that contribute to housing sustainability and wellbeing.
- Embedding culturally safe and accessible engagement practices that reflect the strengths, needs, and aspirations of diverse communities
- Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant field, such as community development, social work, education or community services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of community development principles and engagement frameworks, with the ability to apply strengths-based, inclusive, and culturally safe approaches in working with diverse communities.
- Sound understanding of the housing and homelessness sector, including awareness of the challenges tenants may face and the supports that contribute to sustainable tenancies and community wellbeing.
- Proven ability to build and maintain collaborative and action-based relationships with tenants, colleagues, and a wide range of stakeholders, including government agencies, service providers and local community networks.
- Experience in project and event coordination, including the planning, delivery/facilitation and evaluation of community initiatives, group activities and consultations that are accessible, co-designed and outcomes-focused.
- Skills in monitoring, evaluation and reporting, including the ability to collect and analyse data, prepare clear reports, and contribute to funding submissions and continuous improvement processes.
- High level organisational, communication and ICT skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Requirements:
- Ability and willingness to undertake the relevant employee screening processes, including the provision of a National Police Criminal History Check satisfactory to the Loreto Community Housing and registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Tasmania).
- Possession of a current unrestricted Drivers Licence.
