About The Role

Due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Manager or Director to join our Management Consulting team within BDO Advisory, Perth. This newly established role will sit at the forefront of sustainability and energy transition advisory – helping organisations reimagine how they create value in a decarbonising world.  

Our clients span energy, natural resources, infrastructure and government, and increasingly seek integrated advice that goes beyond compliance to address strategy, transformation, and long-term performance. 

With the commencement of mandatory climate-related reporting (AASB S2) in 2025, BDO’s Sustainability Consulting offering extends well past disclosure. We partner with clients on governance, strategy, risk management, decarbonisation pathways, and energy transition planning — blending technical reporting expertise with forward-looking business transformation. You’ll work closely with our Corporate Reporting teams (technical and carbon accountants), but your role will focus on strategy, implementation, and value creation to ensure disclosures are backed by credible roadmaps and measurable impact. 

What You’Ll Do

• Advise with impact – Guide boards and executives through the complexities of sustainability, energy transition, and climate risk. Help them unlock opportunity, strengthen resilience, and build competitive advantage. 
• Shape energy transition pathways – Lead scenario modelling, transition planning, and decarbonisation strategies that position clients for long-term success. 
• Drive ESG maturity – Assess organisational capability and translate insights into tailored solutions that deliver measurable outcomes — from carbon reduction to stakeholder trust. 
• Co-lead disclosure excellence – Partner with Corporate Reporting to deliver integrated ESG/climate disclosures (AASB S2, IFRS S1/S2, GRI, SASB) that are grounded in robust processes, policies and strategies. 
• Collaborate across disciplines – Work with BDO’s experts in Strategy & Transformation, Risk, Digital & Data, CFO Advisory, and People Advisory to deliver holistic solutions and increase your national profile. 
• Grow and mentor – Develop the next generation of consultants, fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture aligned to BDO values. 
• Shape the future of BDO – Contribute to business development, proposals and thought leadership, positioning BDO as a leading advisor on sustainability and the energy transition. 

About You

• You bring proven experience in ESG, sustainability, climate, or energy transition advisory, whether from consulting or industry. You’ve embedded sustainability into organisational decision-making and created strategies that balance impact and performance. 
• You have a strong working knowledge of global reporting frameworks (IFRS/AASB, GRI, SASB, TCFD) and can turn complex standards into clear, credible strategies and disclosures. 
• You’re passionate about value creation, not just compliance — a problem-solver who can identify opportunities, co-design practical solutions, and inspire change. 
• Your background may span environmental or social sciences, strategy, operations, finance or accounting. More important is your growth mindset, leadership, and commitment to driving sustainability outcomes.
