Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an excellent opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer DevOps – Cloud DevOps (25-500) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This position, based at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO, plays a vital role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a crucial component of the Missile Defense System. It provides a vital operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, delivering an optimal response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It functions as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to enhance overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a key element in all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.

This individual will be responsible for deploying and maintaining a large virtualization solution spread across multiple remote sites. This environment encompasses solutions such as virtualization hypervisor platforms, remote virtual desktop infrastructure, and other direct user experience technologies, as well as additional monitoring solutions for virtual infrastructure. Must be a detail-oriented individual who can track the impact of events or actions on the underlying infrastructure being managed, such as patching and maintenance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related field with 4 years of relevant work experience
  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
  • Must have experience with virtualization technologies such as:
  • Vmware

  • Red Hat Openstack

  • Nutanix

  • Experience in Linux and/or Windows Server administration
  • Experience With Scripting Languages Like:

  • Bash

  • Python

  • Powershell, Or

  • Ansible

  • Experience working with a Scrum team in an Agile environment
  • Vmware

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Have experience developing CI/CD pipelines with:

  • Previous experience with a Nutanix hyperconverged on-premises cloud platform
  • Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory
  • Experience as a Scrum Master is a plus

Primary Level Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
