Quality Control Supervisor
Job Description
Job Title: Quality Control Supervisor Date: 10/2/2025
Reports To: General Manager
Summary
Research Tool & Die Works powered by Fairbanks Morse Defense is seeking a motivated individual to fill a quality control supervisor position at our facility located in Carson, CA. The Quality Supervisor would be responsible for ensuring quality products leave the Inspection Area and will be entirely responsible for ISO9001/AS9100 quality management system. Responsibilities would also include, but not limited to, inspection of individual components using micrometers, calipers, go/no go plug and rings gages, comparator, etc. In addition, to inspection of component parts this position would also be inspecting complete assemblies to customer drawings. File and maintain inspection documents, as necessary and perform internal and external Audits. Maintain equipment calibration and measuring & testing equipment.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform regular quality assessments on all incoming materials from vendors and outgoing shipments
• Perform and document all First Article and Final Inspection
• Perform document review and sign off on all new orders prior to release to production or next needed operation
• Read part drawings/manuals and specifications to understand the requirements of products and services
• Examine sub-assemblies/assemblies at pre-defined inspection points per checklists and work instructions
• Measure in-process and finished product dimensions, examine functionality, and compare the final product to the specifications.
• Reject all products and materials that fail to meet quality expectations and document
• Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new process methods, and manufacturing and training procedures
• Participates in the investigation and disposition of non-conforming materials, responsible for material/product returned including corrective action
• Document inspection outcomes by completing detailed reports and performance records (NCR).
• Inform and follow up with production team about quality control concerns to improve product excellence.
• Identify product non-conformances per specified cosmetic standards and resolve quality-related issues in a timely manner.
• Responsible for entire ISO9001/ AS9100 quality management systems including conducting internal and external audits
• Communicate effectively with management and other various departments in person, via email, and teams
• Creates and maintains quality reports and metrics for internal and external customers
• Other duties assigned by supervisor
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledgeable with ISO9001 or AS9100 quality management systems
• Strong attention to detail
• Must be able to lead a team
• Able to work independently and within a team
• Be proficient at reading and understanding drawings and GD & T
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Ability to manage your time efficiently
• Have computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Basic Data Entry)
• This position includes access or potential access to export-controlled data. Therefore, you will need to qualify as a U.S. Person, which is defined as a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. Permanent Resident or a political asylee in compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Acceptable proof of this status includes a US Passport, Permanent Resident Card, US birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate. Maintenance, including renewal, of licensing authorization is a condition of employment. Government authorization may be a suitable alternative after review on a case-by-case basis.
• This is a full-time 40 hour per week position; however, overtime will be scheduled as need. The standard shift is from 7:00AM-4:15PM Monday-Thursday and 7:00AM-12:00PM on Friday.
