A Brief Overview
The COPE Program Coordinator is responsible for advancing Children's Nebraska's Children's Outreach and Provider Education (COPE) program, a statewide initiative supporting pediatric primary care providers in addressing children's mental health. This position builds and maintains strong partnerships with providers and community stakeholders, ensuring access to education, consultation, and resources that help primary care teams identify, manage, and treat pediatric mental health conditions within their practices. In addition, the COPE Program Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating the organization's Zero Suicide initiative, ensuring suicide prevention strategies are embedded across the Children's continuum as well as community education, outreach, and provider support efforts. This role bridges primary care and behavioral health, advancing both access and safety for children and families across Nebraska.
Essential Functions
- Program Coordination & Administration: Manage the statewide COPE program, including planning, scheduling, logistics, grant compliance, outcome tracking, and reporting. Ensure program activities align with Children’s Nebraska’s goals and funder expectations.
- Provider & Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with pediatric providers, community partners, and behavioral health professionals to strengthen the continuum of care and promote collaboration across the state.
- Suicide Prevention Integration: Support the implementation of the Zero Suicide framework by incorporating suicide prevention strategies into provider education, outreach initiatives, and organizational practices.
- Education & Training Delivery: Develop, coordinate, and deliver educational sessions, trainings, and outreach materials for pediatric primary care providers focused on pediatric mental health care, early identification, treatment strategies, and suicide prevention.
- Strategic Planning & Representation: Participate in strategic planning, quality improvement efforts, and represent Children’s Nebraska at statewide meetings, conferences, and community forums related to pediatric behavioral health and suicide prevention.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Nursing, Public Health, Psychology, or related field Required and
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Nursing, Psychology, or related field Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- 1-3 years in behavioral health, healthcare education, public health, or program coordination required. Required and
- working in pediatric or primary care settings Preferred
- with training/education program development and delivery Preferred
Skills And Abilities
- understanding of pediatric behavioral health and primary care environments (High proficiency)
- communication, presentation, and facilitation skills for diverse provider audiences (High proficiency)
- ability to develop collaborative relationships with healthcare providers, community organizations, and stakeholders (High proficiency)
- skilled in program development, evaluation, and grant compliance (Medium proficiency)
- knowledge of suicide prevention best practices and the Zero Suicide framework (Medium proficiency)
