Engineer Squad Lead

About The Role

We are looking for an Engineer Squad Lead to guide a small team of engineers while actively contributing to the codebase. You will spend most of your time coding, reviewing, and solving technical challenges—while also ensuring your squad delivers with quality and speed.

What You’Ll Do

• Code First Leadership

• Actively design, build, and ship features with your squad.
• Own key parts of the architecture and ensure scalability, performance, and security.Lead by example through clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.

• Squad Delivery

• Drive end-to-end execution of projects with Product and Design.
• Balance short-term delivery with long-term technical health.Break down work, assign tasks, and unblock your team when needed.

• Mentorship & Collaboration

• Mentor junior engineers through pair programming and code reviews.
• Create a collaborative and supportive squad environment.
• Encourage continuous improvement in engineering practices.

• Cross-Squad Alignment

• Collaborate with other Squad Leads to ensure consistent architecture and standards.
• Share knowledge and champion engineering excellence across the company.

What We’Re Looking For

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong hands-on coding ability.
• Proficiency in our core stack (Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, AWS or similar).
• Experience building and maintaining production systems at scale.
• Track record of shipping features as part of an agile team.
• Some leadership or mentorship experience (formal or informal).
• Strong problem-solving, ownership mindset, and willingness to get your hands dirty.

Nice-To-Haves

• Prior experience as a tech lead or startup engineer.
• Background in SaaS or edtech platforms.
• Familiarity with multi-region deployments and data privacy compliance.
