Senior Officer (Landscape) (25260221)
The appointee will be a member of the Campus Safety and Facilities Management Section of the Estates Office and be responsible for providing landscape maintenance services to the University.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning, organising and implementing quality control of landscape maintenance services or related works for the Estates Office;
- Maintain quality services of soft landscape of on-campus and off-campus premises of the University;
- Monitor the performance of the outsourced landscape maintenance contractor and the penjing specialist;
- Conduct daily inspection of landscaped areas including but not limited to trees, planters, potted plants, green walls, lawn and the nursery, etc. to ensure the condition and appearance of all vegetation and trees are maintained up to the quality standard, take immediate follow-up action with outsourced contractors to rectify problems timely;
- Regularly check the condition of plants and trees on campus. Maintain an updated inventory record of plants and trees;
- Maintain nursery stock and keep the nursery operation in a tidy and clean condition;
- Advise on matters related to tree management and monitor outsourced contractors to complete tree inspections before every typhoon season;
- Prepare landscaping improvement proposals and tender documents such as supply of seasonal plants, tree compensation or minor landscape related works, etc.;
- Coordinate with departments for arrangement of potted plants for venue set-up during events;
- Take part in project works relating to trees compensation and soft landscape; and
- Perform any other ad hoc duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements:
- A recognised degree in arboriculture, horticulture or related disciplines with a minimum of four years’ relevant work experience;
- Must be familiar with the local species and conversant with the administrative/ technical requirements in arboricultural/ horticultural management;
- Practical experience in tree risk assessment, lawn and green wall maintenance;
- Possession of a recognised qualification, such as ISA Certified Arborist, would be an advantage; and
- Proactive, responsible and have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to performance review, mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
