Organizational Setting

Recruitment by the hiring unit of FAO Madagascar through a recruitment selective process by a HR Committee Panelist under the direct supervision of the FAO Representative in Madagascar, Mauritius, Comoros, and Seychelles and stationed within the Programme Development and Coordination Section (PDCS) of the Ministry of Agriculture Climate Change and Environment to coordinate the day-to-day implementation of activities for all FAO projects in the Seychelles.

Reporting Lines

Under the direct managerial and administrative leadership of the FAO Representative in Madagascar, Mauritius, Comoros, Seychelles as the Budget Holder, under the technical supervision of the FAO Programme Coordinator for Seychelles and in collaboration with the PDCS

Technical Focus

The National Project Coordinator shall coordinate the implementation of Technical Coorporation Programme (TCP) and Regional Projects in collaboration with all members of the project taskforce.  

Tasks And Responsibilities

The National Project Coordinator will perform the following tasks:

•    Ensure efficient and quality project(s) implementation and coordinate all project activities; 
•    Work in collaboration with consultants involved in project implementation (including local NGOs, contractors and suppliers) and ensure timely delivery of services provided by suppliers, contractors and implementing partners;
•    Establish and maintain close collaboration and working arrangements with the FAO/ PDCS, national/international consultants, experts and support personnel engaged by the project(s) and provide day to day support to prepare, update and manage the project(s) implementation plans and budget, monitor their implementation including projects’ activities consistently in line with FAO rules and procedures under the guidance of the FAO and PDCS’s SOPs;
•    Keep track of the main milestones, activities and deliverables and ensure immediate corrective actions with the project team and partners to ensure effective and timely project deliveries;
•    Organize, and prepare background information and project progress reports and all terminal reporting (including achievements and bottlenecks) and regular project meetings (Steering Committee, RAC etc) in a timely manner;
•    Capture good practices and lessons learned during project implementation and collaborate with FAO and PDCS for project dissemination and provide recommendation(s) for sustainability of achievement post project;
•    Ensure visibility of project activities and achievements in close collaboration with the national project taskforce and communication team;
•    Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • •    University degree in project management, natural resource management, business management, social sciences or related subject 
  • •    At least 5 years of relevant experience in project/ programme management 
  • •    Working knowledge of English
  • •    National of Seychelles
