Network Engineer / Infrastructure Lead

If you want to be part of a dynamic team implementing cutting-edge training solutions, this is the place for you!  We are currently seeking an Infrastructure Lead / Network Engineer with an active TS/SCI with Poly to join our team in the Hanover, MD area.  General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Responsibilities:

The roles and responsibilities for the Classified Infrastructure Team Lead with respect to executing the project and program aspects of position include, but are not limited to, the following:

•    Manage the day-to-day running of the infrastructure systems and networks that the students and staff of the program interact with to create, manage, and deliver the classes, including troubleshooting and scaling issues.
•    Act as the System/Network Architect; designing and proposing updates and new solutions using common applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) to document and present solutions.
•    Datacenter management to include organization, environment monitoring, power, space and cooling monitoring and establishing/maintaining rack placement, usage and documentation procedures.
•    Interact with the technical teams in the customer organization to achieve optimal technical solutions.
•    Work with other Team Leads to identify possible ways to increase efficiency and the quality of the course delivery using technical solutions.
•    Work with Infrastructure Team Members to identify and vet technologies that can push the capabilities of our tech stack forward. 
•    Assist other Champions in troubleshooting technical issues for course development, delivery and grading. 
•    Ensure Infrastructure Team ticket requests are appropriately scoped, assigned, followed up on and achievable.
•    Ensure that there is clear and concise documentation for all the services, tools, and techniques that the Infrastructure Team develops.
•    Demonstrate excellent speaking and writing skills; effectively collaborate with other members of the Team and prioritize tasks under strict deadlines
•    Manage procurement for infrastructure related assets to include hardware, software, and licensing/service agreements.
•    Conduct Amentum Supervisor responsibilities:
    o    Review and approve timesheets; work with Leadership to understand and appropriately convey messages and updates regarding time charging to Team Members as needed
    o    Participate in the interview process for potential new candidates for positions on Infrastructure Team and provide feedback to the Hiring Manager and the Talent Acquisition Team; activities may include, but are not limited to, providing input for Requisitions, reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, providing completed Interview Evaluation Forms, providing support for onboarding new Team Members, etc.
    o    Conduct Quarterly Check-Ins and Annual Performance Reviews with direct reports, as well as work with Team Members throughout the year to discuss/provide feedback, conduct frequent informal check-ins, and provide professional development opportunities; address any potential issues early as well as provide corrective and/or development planning as needed
    o    Participate and facilitate periodic sessions with Team Members and Team Leadership to ensure effective communication is occurring regarding tasking, priorities, issues/concerns, team morale, team updates, etc.
    o    Review Amentum and Customer-related communications, updates, etc. and ensure that Team Members are informed and aware of information in a timely manner

    o     feedback, conduct frequent informal check-ins, and provide professional development opportunities; address any potential issues early as well as provide corrective and/or development planning as needed
    o    Participate and facilitate periodic sessions with Team Members and Team Leadership to ensure effective communication is occurring regarding tasking, priorities, issues/concerns, team morale, team updates, etc.

Requirements

Clearance Required:

•    Active TS/SCI with Polygraph. Must be a US citizen.

Minimum Education:

• •    Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred. 
• •    Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university is acceptable.
• •     Additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.

Minimum Years Of Experience:

•    Eleven (11) years progressively responsible network systems engineering experience is required. 
•    An additional Four (4) years of experience can be substituted for a degree for a total of fifteen (15) years of experience. VMWare, VSphere, and VCenter experience is required.  

Required Certifications:

•    Certification required, at a minimum, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) as well as SEC+CE or equivalent (DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification is required).

Other Requirements:

•    Demonstrated experience designing, configuring, and supporting networks, including the use of switches, routers, firewalls, and content filters.  Knowledge of Cisco is preferred.
•    Demonstrated experience designing, configuring, and supporting server-based operating systems, including Windows Server 2012 (or later), RHEL-based Linux.
•    Demonstrated experience designing, configuring, and supporting virtual computing environments.
•    Demonstrated experience designing, configuring, and supporting network and system technologies – such as NAS/SAN, RAID, Backups, IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs
•    Demonstrated experience with programming/scripting for the purpose of system/network management.
•    Must have demonstrated familiarity with ssh, ssh tunnels, iptables, rsync, tcpdump, Wireshark, vnc, and RDP.
•    Previous team lead experience is preferred.

Preferred:

•    Experience with VMWare, VSphere, and VCenter virtualization tools is strongly desired.
•    Experience with Palo Alto IPS/IDS networking devices
•    Understanding of Cisco WebVPN and SSL VPN technologies
•    Understanding of generating and implementing SSL certificates
•    Experience with hardening systems and reading/implementing STIG guidance is strongly desired
•    A working knowledge of Windows and Windows Servers.
•    A working knowledge of both Linux and Windows platforms.
•    Experience with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, etc.)
•    Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g. Python, Perl)
•    Proven ability to work independently while being conscious of how your work interacts with that of others.
•    Possess drive, enthusiasm, and attention to detail. 
•    Ability to work flex and overtime hours with some weekend hours expected.
•    Ability to solve problems quickly and completely; analytical problem-solving skills; adept at root-cause analysis and mitigation.
•    Effective communication, writing, documentation, and requirements gatherings skills are needed to be effective in this role for working with other members of the Team and with the Customer to meet the requirements of the program.

Attendance:

Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.

The base salary range for this position is $225k to $235k. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
