The Quality Engineer plans, implements and coordinates activities concerned with the development, application and improvement of StandardAero’s quality system governing production processes, materials, products and parts. Leads and/or participates in the development and maintenance of the quality system.
Essential Job Functions:
- Recognizes and understands flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
- Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and immediately reporting any unsafe practices/conditions.
- Participates in proactive risk analysis of flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
- Recognizes and understands the Just Culture policy.
- Develops and initiates quality measure of performance standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation using statistical techniques, including statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), etc.
- Performs analysis of metric data to present trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Establishes programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement and analytical equipment and facilities.
- Coordinates operations/quality assurance reporting and interactions regarding product quality.
- Investigates and reports on quality concerns and potential implications with warranty and safety issues.
- Initiates and completes internal and external quality audits (including regulatory and customer audits).
- Lead warranty and customer complaint investigations to validate findings and work with the team to identify the process root cause and systematic preventive measures which commensurate with the findings.
- Researches quality methodology and solves quality problems with other engineering staff.
- Assists training department with the development and presentation of training sessions on quality activities in areas such as measurement methodology, statistical process control and test fixture operations.
- Manage improvement plans to include initiating, assigning, following up, validating effectiveness and closing out corrective and preventive action requests from all sources of findings.
- Review and validate new process equipment and capabilities.
- Review and validate self-evaluation of new product capabilities to ensure compliance with all technical and regulatory requirements before adding to capability listings and /or releasing first articles to return to service.
- Responsible for following internal quality system procedures and internal work instructions.
- Evaluation of calibration condition reports, identification of actions as deemed necessary and providing approval on behalf of Quality.
- Carries out special projects as assigned.
Basic Requirements:
- Degree/Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or related).
- 2+ years experience in MRO, aerospace manufacturing, or repair station environment.
- Knowledge of Transport Canada CARs, FAA, EASA Part 145 requirements.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Proficient in selection and application of statistical techniques.
- Working knowledge of production management computer systems.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings.
- In jurisdictions governed by a regulatory body or with an association that is governed by local legal requirements, registration is required.
Preferred Requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of company instruction, company process, quality and original equipment manufacturer manuals.
- Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment.

- Working knowledge of precision measuring instruments
