Job Description

Please note: Effective October 1, 2025, the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services has transitioned to its new name—the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health. This change reflects our continued commitment to providing comprehensive, person-centered care that addresses the full range of behavioral health needs for Ohioans. All positions and services now fall under the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health as we move forward in serving individuals, families, and communities across the state.

What You’Ll Do At Dbh:

The Central Nursing Office serves as the operational hub of the hospital, overseeing critical functions such as staffing, patient admissions and discharges, and coordination of patient movement within the hospital and into the community. We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) with supervisory experience to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills and a commitment to high performance in a collaborative environment. In this position, you will work closely with the Hospital Aide Supervisor to ensure optimal staffing coverage for current and upcoming shifts based on staffing requirements and patient acuity, making real time staffing adjustments as needed. Additional responsibilities include supervising nursing and direct care staff, including RNs, LPNs, and Therapeutic Program Workers, and conducting performance evaluations. The RN Supervisor is also responsible for receiving oncoming shift reports and providing thorough reports to the next shift’s leadership. You will be expected to address and resolve employee and patient-related concerns as they arise, maintaining a calm and professional approach. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams across the hospital is key to ensuring that patients receive high-quality care aligned with standards set by the American Nurses Association (ANA), The Joint Commission (TJC), and the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA). You will also support patients in achieving their recovery goals and participating in therapeutic programming.

This is an hourly position and is exempt from the bargaining units, with a pay range of #15 on the E1 Exempt Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are 7:00pm to 7:30am (Flexible Schedule), every other weekend. This position is located within our Heartland Behavioral Healthcare campus at 3000 Erie Street S., Massillon, OH 44646.

Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.
