Description
The University of Texas School of Social Work (UTSW) invites applications for professional track faculty position (Lecturer) with a focus on health and behavioral health policy and macrosocial work. We seek candidates whose teaching advances understanding of health and behavioral health systems, service delivery, and policy innovations that improve outcomes for individuals, families, and communities.
Areas of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Mental health and substance use policy
- Behavioral health workforce development
- Health delivery and access to behavioral health care
- Integration of behavioral health within primary care and public health systems
- Financing and regulation of behavioral health services
- Policy analysis and evaluation methods
Responsibilities:
- Teach six courses (three each semester) in bachelor’s and/or master’s degree programs and certification programs in behavioral health policy, social policy, or related areas
- Robust service to the School and University, as well as to the city, state, nation, and the social work profession
- Mentor students in professional development
- Engage with UTSW’s partners in collaborative, interdisciplinary initiatives across the university (e.g., with Dell Medical School, LBJ School of Public Affairs, Population Health)
- Contribute to service and leadership within the School, University, and profession including (but not limited to) committee service and serving as course lead
Qualifications
- Earned master’s in social work or a related field (e.g., public health, health policy, psychology)
- Evidence of (or strong potential for) a strong record of teaching and service
- Commitment to teaching excellence and mentorship of heterogeneous student populations
- Demonstrated ability (or potential) to collaborate in interdisciplinary teaching and service
