Chair, Pediatrics
NYU Grossman School of Medicine & its Affiliated Academic Medical Centers
NYU Langone Health is seeking a visionary leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Pediatrics. The Chair will advance the Department’s clinical, research, and educational missions, providing strategic leadership for an accomplished team of pediatric faculty. This team delivers outstanding care to a complex and medically diverse pediatric population, and the Chair will play a central role in fostering excellence across patient care, academic scholarship, and research development.
The ideal candidate will have a strong record of academic and research achievements, demonstrate excellence in clinical care, and experience mentoring faculty and trainees. The Chair will build on the existing collaborations across pediatric subspecialties and academic disciplines, driving innovation in clinical services while advancing the Department’s research and educational initiatives. In addition, the Chair will provide system-wide leadership within NYU Langone Health, partnering across departments at all campuses to advance integrated pediatric care, academic programs, and strategic initiatives.
System-wide, Children’s Services encompass 201 pediatric beds across three hospitals, including significant resources at NYU Langone Health–Long Island (66 beds, including a level IV NICU and PICU) and NYU Langone Health–Brooklyn (20 beds, including a level II NICU). Collectively, the system manages more than 9,000 pediatric inpatient discharges annually.
Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital is an 115-bed quaternary care facility distinguished as one of only 13 children’s hospitals nationwide capable of performing four types of solid-organ pediatric transplants (kidney, lung, heart, liver), bone marrow transplantation, in utero fetal surgery, and congenital heart surgery. Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital and Children’s Services have multiple planned capital expansions to expand the hospital and subspecialty services. Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital and Children’s Services are currently ranked in five specialties: Cardiology and Heart Surgery, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Gastroenterology and GI Surgery, Pulmonology and Lung Surgery, and Neonatology with aspirations to rank in all specialties.
This is an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of pediatric care, strengthen the Department’s academic impact, and guide the continued growth and prominence of its faculty and programs at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital and children’s services across NYU Langone Health.
