Job Summary:
The University of Colorado School of Medicine’s Office of Medical Education (OME) is seeking an Academic Services Professional to join the Graduate Medical Education (GME) team as an Accreditation and Compliance Program Manager, bringing regulatory expertise, strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and collaborative leadership with excellent communication abilities.
This role is one of three institutional positions dedicated to ensuring regulatory compliance across residency and fellowship programs. As an institutional expert on ACGME and specialty-specific requirements, the position is essential to maintaining accreditation for one-third of CU’s 119 ACGME-accredited training programs and providing oversight of 110 non-ACGME programs. The Program Manager supports program directors, coordinators, faculty, residents, and fellows by offering strategies to meet regulatory requirements, educating stakeholders on ACGME standards, and facilitating communication across leadership to ensure compliance and institutional success.
Supervision Received: Position reports to the Accreditation and Compliance Program Director and works with the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education who is also the ACGME Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for the institution (CU School of Medicine – CUSOM).

Key Responsibilities:
Acgme Program Oversight
- Accreditation & Compliance Oversight: Lead annual program evaluations, performance dashboards, and accreditation database reviews to ensure ongoing compliance with ACGME standards and drive continuous quality improvement.
- Program Development & Monitoring: Manage new program applications, site visit preparation, and work hours oversight while partnering with program leaders to maintain accreditation and institutional excellence.
Non-Acgme Program Oversight
- Oversee non-ACGME fellowship programs and support new residency and fellowship applications to ensure compliance with institutional and accreditation requirements this includes 10 non-accredited medical fellowships programs, including J-1 visa Non-Standard Programs with additional requirements.
Monitoring of Underperforming Programs
- Conduct Special Reviews: Organize Special Review teams and participate as a member. Draft resulting reports, and monitor progress with recommendations, including required Progress Reports.
- Track Accreditation Citations and Areas for Improvement (AFIs), guiding programs through formulating a response until they meet standards.
Institutional Compliance
- Monitor Accreditation Requirements: Interpret and apply evolving ACGME program standards to ensure institutional and program compliance.
- Institutional Compliance Oversight: Lead preparation for accreditation site visits, annual institutional reporting, and policy development.
- Committee & Stakeholder Support: Serve as liaison to GMEC and subcommittees, ensuring effective communication, documentation, and follow-up.
- Program Tools & Strategy: Develop compliance templates, implement best practices, and contribute to strategic planning for GME.
Other
- Program Director & Coordinator Education: Lead organization of new program director orientations and provide accreditation and compliance announcements/information at monthly program coordinator meetings.
- Institutional Awards: Organize and coordinate annual institutional award processes (e.g. Program Director and Program Coordinator Excellence Award).
- Special Projects: Perform special projects as required by the department, institution and/or ACGME (e.g. FTE data collection, assisting in the planning and execution of the GME Leadership Retreat, etc.).
Work Location:
Hybrid – This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings. Additional on-site days may be required as needed. Please see the campus-wide policy for additional information.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution
- 4-6 years of professional experience
Substitution: An advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional experience in Graduate Medical Education within an academic institution, encompassing both program administration and accreditation
- Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
- Knowledge of and ability to apply regulatory requirements for accreditation of graduate medical education training programs at the institutional and program level
- Demonstrated ability to establish work priorities, research and resolve problems, delegate assignments as appropriate and follow through with minimal direction to ensure completion of activities
- Set deadlines for and follow up until the program directors and leadership have met the requirements.
- Skills in analyzing and interpreting policies, procedures, reports, data, etc.
- Proven attention to detail in managing documents and accountability in a highly professional environment
- Ability to plan, organize, implement and direct educational and administrative activities
- Demonstrated ability to utilize specialized software programs
- Strong ability to work collaboratively as a team with all members of the GME staff to accomplish the goals and objectives of the institution
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work with and communicate effectively with individuals with diverse training and backgrounds, as well as all levels of management in both a written and verbal capacity
- Proven experience in leading and managing a highly accountable work environment.
- Experience with Microsoft programs (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $63,554.00 - $80,840.00.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
