Job Summary:

Coordinates multidisciplinary resources to provide care to trauma patients requiring services across continuum of care. Develops, implements and evaluates all aspects of program services in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team, promoting and rendering the highest quality of care for patients. Provides operational accountability for the assigned department/unit. Coordinates small program(s) with limited budget/impact.

Job Requirements:

Education And Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
  • Acute/critical care nursing experience: Preferred
  • Rapid Response/Code Team background: Preferred
  • One year's experience as a charge nurse or related experience.: Preferred
  • Three years' clinical experience in critical care and/or emergency room care: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS- AHA) certification: Required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification: Required
  • TNCC or TCAR: Required
  • National Institute of Health (NIH) Stroke Scale certification: Preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Develops, implements and evaluates all aspects of program services in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team. Maintains responsibility for assessing patient needs/conditions and consults them for the appropriate resources they need. Monitors and trends outcomes of services provided. Oversees the daily work activities of assigned staff, and performs direct patient care as needed.
  • Maintains and implements program goals and objectives that are consistent with organizational plans. Recommends and suggests revisions to plans, as needed. Represents hospital’s trauma program to the State Emergency Medical Services Injury Prevention System Branch and other external agencies, including out of hospital trauma care providers. Works with community agencies to provide injury prevention and control activities. Works under minimal supervision.
  • Assists with education efforts to support the Statewide Trauma Program. Conducts a continuing review of the level of quality/performance of service program(s). Implements changes in procedures/practices in order to meet customer needs, as well as the overall strategic initiatives of the system. Assures Trauma Registry Data is collected and reported accurately.
  • Represents Hospital Trauma Program to the community and other external agencies. Works with community agencies to provide information, education and/or training regarding the program. Coordinates the development, implementation and review of plans and policies/procedures related to the program. Participates with unit manager and fellow associates in defining, implementing and evaluating unit goals. Evaluates effectiveness and effects changes, as needed. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates the preparation and distribution of reports relevant to the program. Records, collects and maintains statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes, as requested. Participates in cost effectiveness initiatives, seeks opportunities to eliminate inappropriate and wasteful use of resource, makes recommendations and assists in development of plans to meet monthly operational budget.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
