Main Purpose:
The Manager Digital communications plays a key strategic and operational role in defining and enabling MTN digital communications strategy to drive acquisition, retention and brand equity through optimizing the opportunities that the digital environment presents.

Key Performance Areas
- Website and Social Media traffic and engagement performance including Online brand sentiment
- Growth in usage and revenue of MTN products including digital services
- Efficient online media execution and digital communication channel campaigns and initiatives
- ROI on online communication efforts including but not limited to customer usage of the channels and brand recognition as a digital leader
- Timely execution of online marketing communication initiative as well as reporting and insight generation from Online channels
- Internal collaboration initiatives and efforts on digital media channels
- Effective support and enablement of Internal and external partners
- Timely input, delivery and execution of the Digital Business plan including the annual Online channels & communication plan
- Effective delivery of digital GTM deliverables including but not limited to tailored solutions like lead generations strategies
- Timely implementation of New online channels and activities as well as creative leverage of the brand’s online assets
Description Of Tasks
- To own and foresee strategy, development and enhancement of the Brand’s website strategy.
- To create and execute a 360-degree multi-platform communication strategy for the brand’s online channels including but not limited to the Website, Social Media, Online self-service and content platforms
- To create and support execution of the brand’s social media presence strategy
- To create and support execution of the brand’s online media advertising strategy
- To build, Position and leverage the website as the brand’s online hub including measuring and reporting on performance against set KPIs
- To manage the brand’s Website content strategy as well as its feature enhancement strategy
- To own, plan and execute the Websites SEO/SEM strategy and also collaborate with internal teams to create landing pages and optimize user experience
- To profile the brand’s online fan base collecting information including but not limited to personal details, demographics and usage of MTN’s services
- To plan, execute, measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns, and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs)
- To identify trends and insights, and optimize online media spend and performance based on the insights
- To plan, execute, and measure online experiments and conversion tests for the website and other channels including use of analytics to evaluate end-to-end customer experience across online channels
- To use Analytics tools to collect, integrate, collate and interpret data from the brand’s digital channels including the website and campaigns to build value creating insights
- To ensure that content on the brand’s online channels is up to date, relevant and of good quality
- To own and execute the editorial calendar process for online channels partnering with content stakeholders from PR, marketing, HR, brand, to ensure that content is timely, relevant, fresh, and aligned with key moments and marketing calendars.
- To conduct regular online channel functionality and content quality audits and implement solutions to identified issues as well as ensure timely resolution of Audit items identified either by Group digital team or the MTN Business risk team
- To own and foresee execution of the GTM and PR content plan for its digital channels both for strategic themes as well as adhoc campaign needs in all the brand tiers
- To create and manage a digital content library to store content generated from digital activities for future leverage and reference.
- To assist and guide marketing segments in defining and executing content plans to support product and service launches as well as campaigns
- To proactively identify and evaluate emerging technologies with a view to new online communication online tools, channels and execution opportunities
- To create and enable reports and dashboards for monitoring digital channel activity and performance, and to document Processes and Procedures for activities
- To own and execute a strategy for using and enhancing online listening tools including but not limited to Radian 6 to create value
- To work with social media community manager and creative agency to optimize social media posting strategy to grow audience, supported by tracking, measuring, and reporting on social growth and campaign effectiveness.
- To leverage digital channels to gather insights from customer through polls, surveys and other tools
- To develop content for digital channels when needed ensuring fluency of language and appropriate delivery of brand objective and messaging
- To proactively support and work with other members of the digital team in marketing and customer services to build value and a digital culture in MTN and act as the Point of Contact in respect to online channels for external digital stakeholders including Aqua, Creative agency, MTN Group
- To proactively identify opportunities to collaborate on initiatives and projects with other stakeholders especially the marketing digital team, CEX digital team and the creative agency
- To contribute to the Business planning process by providing annual plans, targets and initiatives for the brand’s online strategy.

Education
- A related university degree, apprenticeship or other higher education qualification.
Other Training:
- Project Management
- Marketing fundamentals
- Digital Marketing essentials
Work Experience
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience
- At least 3 years of working experience in a similar role
- Proven working experience in digital marketing
- Experience managing web sites, including optimization, content feature definition, editorial, and implementation.
- Experience integrating digital and social media efforts into broader media and marketing strategies
- Experience writing and editing for digital channels, and developing editorial calendars
- Experience with search engine optimization best practices, search marketing, social media optimization and related analytics
- Experience in project management/editorial oversight of multichannel communications, digital content management, web development or related field
- Experience using reporting and analytical tools on data from various sources to build insights.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of digital marketing and Online Ad Serving tools
- Solid knowledge of website analytics tools e.g., Google Analytics and online listening tools e.g. Radian 6
- Working knowledge of Share point CMS, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints
- Fully at home with social media, CMS management, marketing analytics, and content development
- Understanding of how to drive traffic through SEM, SEO, and PPC
- Must have the ability to work under constant deadline pressure and manage multiple projects across multiple business groups.
- Impeccable writing and editing skills, business technology writing experience, not a jargon expert, but someone who can talk the language of our business
- Ability to understand complex business and technology themes and translate them into compelling communication messages and content
