Hire Rate: $22/hour
*This is a temporary position
*This position may include evening and weekend hours
*This position requires the following background checks: criminal history review, child abuse
clearance and FBI fingerprinting

- Position Summary:
- The Center for Obesity Research and Education (CORE) in the College of Public Health at Temple University is seeking a research assistant/health coach for a behavioral intervention.
Required Education and Experience:
The research assistant/health coach will have earned at least a bachelor’s degree in public health or other social or behavioral sciences and have at least 1 year of experience in a healthcare or research setting that includes interaction with patients and/or families. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Required Skills and Abilities:
- *Demonstrated experience with healthcare-related research
- *Demonstrated knowledge of nutrition, public health, behavioral health and/or related fields
- *Proficient with MS Office software including database programs and virtual communication platforms (e.g., Zoom or Microsoft Teams)
- *Demonstrated ability to conduct dietary intake interviews via dietary assessment tool (e.g., ASA-24, NDSR, MyPlate)
- *Demonstrated ability to conduct literature searches and synthesize information effectively
- *Demonstrated ability to manage qualitative and quantitative data (e.g., data entry, data management)
- *Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- *Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with diverse populations, including patients, caregivers, and providers
- *Ability to effectively communicate with the PIs, university staff, and other researchers
- *Excellent organizational skills and attentive to details
- *Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- *Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adhere to timelines
- *Clearances for working with minors must be received by the start date.
- Preferred Skills and Abilities:
- *Experience interacting with and/or delivering nutrition education to teens, families, and/or patient populations
- *Bachelor's degree in public health or relevant social scientific field (i.e., psychology, nutrition)
- Essential duties:
- *Delivering health coaching for teens as part of a behavioral intervention to improve dietary intake.
- *Screening of research participants, and assistance with data collection.
- *Prepare materials for intervention sessions, attend project meetings, and communicate effectively with project stakeholders between meetings.
- *May help develop and format project deliverables such as progress reports, presentations, and papers for publication.
- *Help to ensure that project milestones are met in accordance with project timelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned
This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
