We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Apparel & Accessories Product Designer to join our design team. The successful candidate, will be responsible for end-to-end design and development of apparel and accessories collections that reflect our brand identity, meet consumer needs, and maintain a high standard of technical execution. This is a specialist, individual-contributor role with a strong focus on hands-on design and product development, working closely with cross-functional partners in merchandising, product development, and sourcing.
What You’Ll Do:
- Research global outdoor, fashion, cultural, and consumer trends to identify design opportunities in apparel and accessories.
- Create original concepts, sketches, CADs, and technical drawings for seasonal collections.
- Design, brief and select materials, trims, hardware, and finishes appropriate to performance, durability, and brand positioning.
- Prepare detailed technical packs (tech packs) for sampling and production.
- Collaborate with product development, patternmakers, and suppliers to ensure prototypes meet design intent, fit standards, and cost targets.
- Conduct fittings and product reviews, making iterative design adjustments to optimise aesthetics, functionality, and comfort.
- Ensure designs are commercially viable while maintaining creative integrity and alignment with brand vision.
- Present collections and design rationale to internal stakeholders for approval.
- Maintain a deep understanding of sustainability, fabric innovation, and new manufacturing techniques to improve product quality and environmental performance.
- Ensure all designs meet compliance, safety, and performance requirements relevant to apparel and accessories.
- Integrate 3D prototyping into the creative process.
- Lead and conduct insight sessions with athletes and consumers.
Requirements
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience: Minimum 5 years’ professional experience designing technical apparel within a global outdoor or sportswear brands.
- Degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Apparel Product Development, or Industrial/Product Design (specialising in soft goods).
- Experience working with international factories and supply chains.
- Strong portfolio of completed apparel and accessories products, showing both creative vision and technical execution.
- Proficiency with design and development software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CLO3D, or equivalent).
- Able to design 3D CADS for sampling
- Knowledge of fabric construction, material properties, accessory hardware, and finishing techniques.
- Experience creating and delivering accurate tech packs and specifications to global suppliers.
- Able to construct physical prototypes to hand over to development
- Understanding of garment construction, fit, grading, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong sense of colour, trends, silhouette, and consumer insights.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams across product development, sourcing, and marketing.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and time management skills.
Salary: $70,000 - $100,000
