Team Intro
The Risk & Response Team for TikTok USDS is a multi-disciplinary team that handles risk detection, prevention, and handling in the United States.
As a member of the USDS Law Enforcement Outreach Team, you will be responsible for cultivating and nurturing strategic relationships with law enforcement authorities, government agencies focusing on online safety, and industry coalitions in the United States. Your primary focus will be on educating law enforcement agencies about TikTok's data disclosure policies and law enforcement guidelines.
The role may be exposed to harmful content as part of their core day-to-day functions, as well as in project work; in response to escalation requests; or by chance. Some content viewed my violate our community guidelines which include but are not limited to bullying; hate speech; child abuse; sexual assault; torture; bestiality; self-harm; suicide; and murder.
This position will be full-time and will be based in our Washington DC, New York, or San Jose CA locations and would entail frequent travel within the United States.
In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time.
Responsibilities
- Cultivate relationships with US law enforcement, security, and government authorities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Educate law enforcement on TIkTok policies, focusing on user privacy and legal data request responses
- Work closely with legal, public policy, and other internal teams in engagements with law enforcement, regulators, and legislators on various online safety topics, such as child protection and counter-terrorism.
- Work with internal investigations teams and Law Enforcement Response Team to support proactive referrals to law enforcement authorities.
- Identify risks and issues across the business related to law enforcement engagement. Develop proactive programs and processes to address them. Establish regular reporting mechanisms to keep stakeholders informed on progress, findings, and recommendations.
- Create and articulate written and verbal responses to inquiries from law enforcement, government agencies, and internal teams regarding policy, process, and operations.
