Our team is responsible for end-to-end system integration testing of Nokia's next-generation GX Optical line systems. We validate and automate critical optical features such as ILA, RAMAN amplification, DWDM channel operations, OTDR, provisioning, alarms, performance/fault management, and optical power controls. Working in an Agile environment, the team ensures high-quality feature delivery by combining deep domain knowledge in optical networking with strong automation expertise in Python. We play a key role in guaranteeing that complex optical features are robust, scalable, and customer ready.
 


Your responsibilities will include:

•    Designing, developing, and executing detailed functional test plans to verify product features and capabilities, ensuring comprehensive coverage of complex customer configurations and seamless system functionality.
•    Actively participating in and contributing to the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes, including product/system requirement reviews, software design implementation discussions, and collaborating with the Product Management team to translate customer scenarios and use cases into detailed test plans.
•    Setting up complex test topologies based on feature requirements and optimizing equipment to best represent customer deployment configurations.
•    Writing and executing automated tests on demand, as per project requirements.
•    Coordinating cross-functionally to ensure high-quality product delivery.
•    Demonstrating strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
•    Reviewing system and product requirements to develop comprehensive solution test plans that validate customer use cases.
•    Developing cross-functional feature test scripts based on system requirements and test plans.
•    Developing and executing automation scripts and suites.
•    Collaborating with System Engineering on requirements review, definition, and test plan reviews.
•    Collaborating with Test/Design/Architecture teams to understand feature implementation.
•    Providing detailed reports on test execution and defect analysis.



 

Primary Skills:

  1. Strong knowledge of Optical Networking Technologies: DWDM, ROADM, Optical Amplifiers (EDFA, RAMAN), OTDR
  2. Expertise in Optical Layer Operations: provisioning, power balancing, span controls, mux/demux and add/drop controls, alarms, PM/FM monitoring
  3. Hands-on experience with system testing of optical products
  4. Good understanding of network element management and fault analysis
  5. Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in Python
  6. Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
  7. Ability to work in Agile teams and contribute across feature verification, automation, and system validation.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in ECE/CSE/IT/EEE/Telecom. Master's degree preferred. 

Experience:

2+ years of experience

Desirable Skill Set:

  • Knowledge of SONET/SDH/OTN, Ethernet, and optical technology (ROADM, optical amplifiers, modulation formats, etc.) is a plus.
  • A foundational understanding of optical components within a network node.
  • Programming/Scripting Skills: Python, Perl, or any other scripting language.
