DNV's Columbus Technology Center in Dublin, OH is searching for an innovative Materials, Corrosion, or Mechanical Engineer to lead advanced corrosion and mechanical testing projects. Dive into applied research assessing material performance in various environments that include hydrogen, CO2, hydrogen sulfide, and more. Your work will directly support vital energy infrastructure and operations, while accelerating decarbonization strategies for hydrogen and CO2 transportation and storage. 

This position is based in Dublin, OH and requires an onsite presence to perform the responsibilities of the position.

What You’Ll Do:

  • Set up and conduct laboratory experiments, including tasks such as:
  • Handling pressurized equipment, gases, chemicals, and test solutions (some environments may involve hazardous substances such as H₂ and H₂S; comprehensive safety training will be provided).
  • Collecting experimental data.
  • Analyzing test specimens utilizing photography, microscopy, balances, and calipers.
  • Design or procure test materials and coordinate machining operations as required.
  • Support projects related to materials selection, corrosion testing, and analysis by preparing experiments, collecting data, and compiling comprehensive reports.
  • Engage with clients to develop testing plans and proposals, present results, and identify opportunities for new business development.
  • Provide project updates and produce final reports upon completion of client projects.
  • Develop technical expertise in one or more subject areas with the goal of working independently as a Project Manager that collaborates with project team members.
  • Present research findings through publication in technical journals and presentations at professional conferences or symposia.
  • Adhere to all Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality Assurance protocols throughout project assignments.

What Is Required

  • Masters of Engineering Degree or higher in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Corrosion, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and a proactive mindset with the capacity to effectively operate in a fast-paced environment alongside diverse individuals, including clients and colleagues.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, up to 5% of the time
  • Ability to regularly lift 25lbs and wear a respirator
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills 
  • We conduct pre-employment background and drug screening, as well as random drug screening to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements

What Is Preferred

  • Experience with running fatigue crack growth and fracture toughness tests or electrochemical corrosion tests
  • Experience with finite element modeling software 
  • Experience with proposal generation or equivalent technical writing
  • Experience in project management, with understanding of technical interfaces and project finance management
  • 3+ year of laboratory testing experience is strongly desired
