As a Senior Analytical Lead in Microsoft Advertising, you will generate insights and recommendations that directly benefit our clients, enhancing their business performance and opening up new investment avenues on our Microsoft Advertising platform. Your role involves synthesizing industry knowledge, digital marketing expertise, and advanced analytical methods to craft compelling data stories that sway decision-makers using visualizations and narrative techniques. You should possess solid analytical, problem-solving, and consulting abilities, along with a proactive, challenging mindset and excellent partnership management skills.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office within the US, or a 25-mile commute of a non-US, country specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
- Understanding the Business Landscape: Gain a deep understanding of various industries, considering trends, competitive dynamics, and the unique value propositions of clients. Look beyond surface-level concerns to uncover underlying business challenges and opportunities for Microsoft Advertising.
- Data Utilization: Collaborate with internal and client teams to source relevant data, select the best statistical methods for integration, and address any data gaps or quality issues.
- Analytical Approach: Apply suitable analytical methods to business inquiries, deliver actionable insights through analysis, and enhance forecasts and existing analyses. Ensure the chosen tools and techniques are apt for the context and provide constructive feedback on their features and functions.
- Communicating Results: Craft components of presentations for both internal and client audiences that effectively narrate the findings, reports, and data visualizations. Strive for clarity and accuracy in conveying information, tailoring content to meet the needs of senior stakeholders and building trust with clients.
- Teamwork and Expertise Development: Collaborate with both internal and client teams to enhance expertise in data sources, methodologies, models, analytical tools, and processes. Understand the specific needs of different industries to deliver impactful results. Engage with stakeholders to identify opportunities for utilizing successful resources and solutions from past projects and provide guidance on analysis and interpretation.
- Data Privacy and Ethical Standards: Keep up to date with data privacy laws and governance, knowing when to seek expert advice. Assess how new guidelines affect your work and ensure that all deliverables comply with ethical standards and controls.
- Embody and promote Microsoft’s culture and values.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years experience in statistics, mathematics, analytics, data science, engineering, computer science, marketing, business, data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, business and financial analysis, or related field OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years experience using tools such as PowerBI/Tableau, DAX, R, SQL for data manipulation and visualization on large datasets.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4+ years in a partner or account management/client service/client-facing role.
- Experience in digital media, data analysis, and data management.
- Dynamic and creative critical thinking skills, with an ability to think outside of the box.
- Programmatic/advertising industry experience
- Solid ability to communicate complex analyses to a mix of both technical and non-technical partners and clients.
- Experience utilizing analytical tools to turn massive, dynamic datasets into actionable insights.
- Comfort and enjoyment with working in ambiguous environments.
- Solid communication skills to work with partners in various areas of Microsoft Advertising.
- Experience pairing data visualization with storytelling to deliver persuasive presentations that influence varying audience levels.
- Experience and proficiency using PowerBI/Tableau, DAX, SQL for data manipulation and visualization. Working knowledge and familiarity in a combination of the following data manipulation and visualization tools: Python, R, PowerPivot, Microsoft Advertising API.
- Working knowledge of statistics, predictive modeling and data clustering/classification techniques.

Advertising Insights IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
