Position Summary
The Human Resources Manager serves as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to plant leadership and employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for leading all aspects of human resources at the plant, including employee and labor relations, staffing, compliance, safety partnership, performance management, and talent development. The HR Manager plays a critical role in aligning workforce practices with business goals while fostering a culture of safety, engagement, accountability, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Culture
- Serve as a key member of the plant leadership team, aligning HR initiatives with operational objectives.
- Provide coaching and support to leaders on workforce strategy, team development, and employee engagement.
- Champion organizational culture by fostering teamwork, accountability, and open communication.
- Lead change management efforts for new processes, technologies, or organizational changes.
- Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure the effective delivery of HR services across the organization
- Provide leadership and guidance to the HR team to ensure effective delivery of HR services within the plant.
Employee & Labor Relations
- Serve as the primary HR point of contact for plant employees and supervisors.
- Manage employee relations, investigations, conflict resolution, and grievance processes.
- Drive employee engagement and retention initiatives to improve morale and reduce turnover.
- Monitor and analyze turnover trends and develop and implement solutions to improve turnover rates and employee retention.
- Follow-up on exit interviews to gain insights into employee turnover and develop effective strategies to address them.
Recruitment, Staffing & Onboarding
- Partner with plant leadership to forecast workforce needs and ensure adequate staffing across shifts.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition in recruitment efforts for hourly, technical, and salaried plant roles.
- Oversee new hire onboarding and orientation programs tailored to plant operations.
- Collaborate with corporate HR and Talent Acquisition teams to ensure talent pipelines.
Performance & Talent Management
- Guide supervisors in performance management, coaching, and corrective action.
- Facilitate annual reviews, goal setting, and calibration processes.
- Support development plans, training initiatives, and succession planning for critical plant roles.
- Champion a high-performance culture built on accountability and continuous improvement.
Compliance & Policy Administration
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, EEO, ADA, OSHA).
- Administer HR policies consistently and fairly across the plant workforce.
- Maintain personnel records, documentation, and reporting accuracy.
- Support HR audits, compliance inspections, and regulatory readiness.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Promote a strong safety culture in all HR and workforce practices.
- Partner with EHS leaders to ensure a safe workplace and compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Support safety training, incident reporting, and corrective action processes.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
- Demonstrated progressive knowledge, skills, and abilities in core HR competencies
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Well versed in supervisory skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- MS office proficiency (MS Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Labor Law knowledge
