Production Supervisor - 3rd shift

Description

The Production Supervisor will report to the Plant Manager and assist in all areas of production. Will exercise discretion and independent judgment and provide direction/coordination of the manufacturing operations to meet the planned production schedule. Will contribute to the overall quality of elements manufactured, inventory control, process implementation and improvement, policy implementation, safety, and cost requirements.

Duties And Responsibilities:

• Manage overall production to maintain established production schedules.
• Coordinate and manage employees and material to efficiently meet the production requirements.
• Ensure assigned employees have the appropriate training, cross-training, work instructions, and tools to successfully perform their job duties within the procedures and policies established by the Company.
• Monitor employee time reporting, attendance, and schedule time off for assigned employees.
• Document and conduct employee performance reviews, provide feedback for performance and productivity improvement, and document and deliver corrective actions based on the company rules and policies. Pro-actively consults and coordinates these activities with Human Resources. 
• Responsible for effective and consistent handling employee complaints and other employee related issues. Pro-actively consults and coordinates these activities with Human Resources.
• Justify and request new employees, interview, and evaluate prospective employees.
• Responsible for prompt and effective communications to management any production or non-production related issues.
• Perform root cause analysis on production line to minimize downtime and scrap and create solutions.
• Perform administrative activities necessary for production operation (i.e. data input, reports, etc.).
• Promote lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement in processes and procedures.
• Enforce company and regulatory safety rules and regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Office environment in manufacturing facility. The noise level is usually moderate.

Safety And Personal Protective Equipment:

Must adhere to all safety rules in force for the location you are in while performing your job responsibilities. This includes at a customer or supplier location. Must meet requirements for PPE in specific manufacturing areas when you are in those areas including safety shoes and safety glasses.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business management, industrial management or a related field is preferred.
• A minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing principles is required.
• Experience working with SAP in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Experience in the fluid power industry is a plus.

Skills And Abilities:

• Ability to provide leadership to the production floor by maintaining a positive attitude and culture.
• Ability to interpret in written, oral, diagram documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and memos.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations to customer, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Certificates And Licenses:

• Forklift certification to drive a forklift, including RAYMOND upright preferred for training production personnel.

Other Requirements:

• Maintains confidentiality when working with company proprietary information.
• Travel, including overnight stays, required as necessary.
