The Christian Lab in the Biology Department at the University of Louisville (nataliechristian.com) is hiring a Research Assistant to assist with data collection, management, and analysis for multiple research projects within the lab evaluating fungal communities associated with plants and the functional roles they play for their hosts. The research assistant will culture fungal microorganisms, grow plants in controlled and outdoor environments, manipulate plant-associated microbial communities, and perform molecular methods such as DNA extraction and polymerase chain relation. The research assistant will also help enter, organize, and analyze data, as well as perform general laboratory managerial and organizational tasks. The assistant will work independently and as part of a research team, and will be an essential member of our research group, interacting with undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, external collaborators, and Dr. Christian.
This is a temporary position for 25-35 hours per week at a pay rate of $18 per hour.
This position is anticipated to last up to one year, with the potential for an extension pending external funding.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
