Arcadis is looking for a Discipline Team Leader with a strong geotechnical / geo-structures background to develop and grow our design team in East Canada to lead and support road, rail, and port projects, including heavy civil structures, foundations, and bridges, in N.S., Halifax Canada.

Role Accountabilities:

In this role you will be responsible for developing and managing a small and growing team in Vancouver, producing, supervising, and managing the creation of engineering products on a wide variety of small to large projects in the road, ports, rail and transit sectors. You will lead project teams to define the problem, establish the work scope, prepare budgets and schedules, plan the work, and provide technical direction and oversight while also performing complex technical engineering tasks efficiently and accurately and lead and mentor less experienced team members. You will prepare and check detailed engineering calculations and models, drawings, specifications, quantities and cost estimates, detailed technical reports, procurement documents, design packages, proposals, and detailed analyses. You will provide technical engineering services during construction, including the review of contractor submissions, coordinate and collaborate with other Engineering disciplines and departments, and build and maintain effective working relationships with clients. You will also be responsible for leading successful project pursuits, including determining budget estimates and staffing requirements and writing winning proposals. 

The successful candidate will also perform Project Management duties including assembling and managing project teams, controlling project budgets and schedules, quality control of deliverables, client interaction and management, and financial reporting. You will be expected to work to tight project schedules while ensuring quality of project deliverables, provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and less experienced Engineers working on the same and other projects, while ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 4-year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Ideally with a Masters in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline
  • Around 10 years experience in geotechnical/geo-structures design on small, medium, and large civil engineering projects, ideally in the roads, rail, and ports sectors including deep excavations, retaining walls, foundations, and bridges
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and collaborative skills
  • Ability to provide effective technical mentoring to less experienced engineers
  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer in NS, and/or Ontario and Alberta
  • Technical knowledge of geotechnical design and analysis and close liaison with civil structural and bridge engineering design
  • Excellent technical report writing experience and skills

The salary range for this position is $95,900 - $137,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.       #LI-HS1   #LI-Hybrid
