Research Administrative Manager (at the rank of Administrative Assistant II) in the Research Administration and Development Office (RADO) (Ref.: 533313) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)
Reporting to the Office of Vice-President & Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research), the RADO team will support the development of research-related administration at the University, devise and implement strategies to streamline the existing workflows, build relationships with administrative offices and academic units to promote research culture, and provide operational support and advice to new professoriate staff at the University.
Responsibilities:
- Assist new professoriate staff to liaise with relevant administrative offices and units to facilitate the setting up and settling-in of research work at the University, including but not limited to grant applications, transfer of existing grants, laboratory setup, appointment of research personnel, purchase of research equipment, etc.;
- Recommend improvements to the existing operational workflow, and to develop effective/creative strategies to streamline and optimize the existing work procedures to support research activities;
- Lead or participate in ad-hoc projects; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- A good university degree, preferably in Business Administration or related disciplines;
- Solid work experience in financial management, process re-engineering, and/or digital transformation, of which at least 3-5 years should be at supervisory level;
- An excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, collaborative and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to multi-task effectively and independently in a large, complex and sophisticated organization;
- Energetic, approachable, customer-oriented and self-motivated;
- High integrity and with a strong sense of responsibility; and
- Previous exposure in the university setting and knowledge of research administration would be highly preferred.
