Description
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
- Greets visitors to the office in a professional and friendly manner
- Responds to mail, emails, voicemails and telephone calls
- Assists other staff members when time, energy and skill permit
- Maintains accurate records and takes minutes of meetings as directed by pastor
- Serves as secretary to the pastor
- Performs all payroll activities including onboarding employees, employee data maintenance, time & labor, vacation and sick accrual and processes payroll
- Attends parish meetings as required and takes minutes
- Keeps vital statistics for the parish
- Keeps pastor informed of vital concerns within the parish
- Creates a weekly bulletin
- Schedules Eucharistic ministers
- Clips and files all newspaper ads and articles concerning the parish
- Maintains positive relationship with parish council members and other volunteers
- Maintains a reasonable inventory of church supplies
- Handles routine questions about policies
- Preparation of payroll, associated taxes and reports
- Prepare bank deposits and records receipts
- Prepare vouchers, including coding and payment of outstanding invoices
- Reconciles parish, school and cemetery books, if applicable
- Prepares financial statements as requested
- Attends parish finance council meetings, as requested
- Maintains tuition and school accounts, if applicable
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
- Computer and organizational skills
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
- 3 – 5 years previous training or experience as a bookkeeper
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Intermediate and accurate mathematical skills
