The Role

The Media & Communications Manager leads media and communications for Greater Sydney Parklands, helping build public awareness and engagement around five of Sydney’s iconic urban parks. You’ll be the key advisor on communications strategy, working closely with leadership, the Minister’s office, and media outlets to shape messaging that supports the 50Year Vision for Greater Sydney’s Open Space and Parklands.

You’ll manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, managing sensitive issues and delivering high-impact campaigns. It’s a role that blends strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, and hands-on delivery across media, branding, digital content, and community consultation.

What you will bring to the role

  • Experience developing and delivering strategic media and communications plans that drive public engagement and positive coverage.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to advise senior leaders and work collaboratively across teams and agencies.
  • Confidence in managing media relationships and responding to sensitive issues under pressure.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of branding, social media, digital content, and community consultation strategies.
  • A flexible and resilient approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement and staying across industry best-practice and emerging trends in communications.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working for an Australian media outlet or relevant tertiary qualifications in media, communications or public relations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media and marketing channels.
  • Understanding of community consultation

What Is An Essential Requirement:

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in media, communications, public relations or related area.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence
  • Ability to travel and attend work at any site within the GSP; portfolio as directed
  • Available to be contacted outside of business hours and work outside of business hours and weekends when required
