About the Project
The Verdun Interchange Upgrade is a major infrastructure initiative improving access to and from the South Eastern Freeway. Delivered by BMD in joint venture with Leed, on behalf of our client Dept of Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) South Australia, this project will enhance safety, connectivity, and traffic flow in the Adelaide Hills region.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Environmental and Sustainability Advisor to manage project based environmental risks, support sustainability initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory and client expectations.

You will oversee environmental planning and execution, including vegetation removal, flora and fauna protection, erosion and sediment control, and water quality monitoring. You’ll also support quality assurance processes alongside our project team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental management across the project, ensuring compliance with legislation, approvals, and DIT requirements
  • Engage with stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, community groups, and the client, to ensure transparent communication and positive relationships
  • Prepare and maintain environmental documentation, including reports, permits, and monitoring records
  • Promote sustainability initiatives and identify opportunities for environmental innovation
  • Complete sustainability data reporting based on client requirements
  • Support quality assurance processes in collaboration with the broader project team
  • Provide occasional support to the Safety team

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in environmental management within civil infrastructure or construction projects
  • Strong understanding of flora and fauna protection, water quality, erosion and sediment control, and environmental risk management
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, regulators, and community stakeholders
  • Knowledge of South Australian environmental legislation
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills
  • Relevant qualifications in Environmental Science, Quality or related disciplines
