About Rippling
Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.
Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.
Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.85B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.
We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from @Rippling.com addresses.
About The Role
As a Product Design Lead for Platform, you’ll join the team responsible for the connective tissue of Rippling—the underlying systems, primitives, and experiences that make the product feel coherent, powerful, and magical. From data visualization to shared surfaces, the Platform team’s work is what allows Rippling to scale across products, serve increasingly complex global scenarios, and still feel like one unified system.
This is a role for a designer who thrives on complexity and systems. You’ll work on challenges that cross-cut the entire product: defining how permissions models apply across contexts, how integrations manage sensitive data with control and governance, and how shared surfaces like home knit everything together. You’ll collaborate with product and engineering partners who think in systems and move fast, while championing clarity, craft, and customer impact in your design work.
If you’ve led design for platform-scale B2B products or built experiences where systems-thinking was as important as pixels—you’ll find this role deeply rewarding.
What You Will Do
- Design core platform primitives that scale across Rippling and power multiple products.
- Make abstract, complex systems concrete for customers and internal teams alike, simplifying concepts without reducing their power.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to design scalable, extensible frameworks that balance flexibility with usability.
- Collaborate across the company to ensure shared surfaces (like home and navigation) are cohesive and delightful.
- Anticipate and design for edge cases in data flows, governance, and multi-system integrations, ensuring robustness and resilience.
- Deliver high-fidelity designs and interaction prototypes that clarify decision-making and elevate customer experience.
What You Will Need
- 8+ years of end-to-end product design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating systems design and complex product delivery.
- Proven ability to simplify complexity, with experience in domains like platform infrastructure, data integrations, or compliance-heavy environments.
- A strong eye for craft—both interaction and visual—with the ability to set a high bar and drive quality across teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, making abstract concepts understandable and guiding cross-functional partners through tough decisions.
- Systems-mindedness: you see connections across products and design with platform coherence in mind.
- Comfort with complexity and scale, with a genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for untangling hard problems.
- A bias toward action, especially in ambiguous or fast-moving environments.
If you don't necessarily meet all of these requirements, we still encourage you to apply. Skills transfer in unexpected ways, and diverse perspectives often lead to the most innovative solutions.
