Your Mission
- Plan, manage, and oversee all logistics and operations processes across Europe (transport, handling, and scrap metal buying and selling operations)
- Coordinate safe and efficient loading and unloading of scrap metals at our site, including quality control (e.g., sampling, moisture measurement, weight verification)
- Manage bulk and container shipments by truck, rail, ship, or air with logistics partners
- Prepare and review contracts, delivery terms, packing lists, customs, and transport documents; develop Bill of Lading (B/L) instructions
- Collaborate with trading teams on offers, negotiations, and customer requirements (including payment and delivery terms)
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, freight forwarders, waste management, and recycling companies
- Monitor logistics performance, analyze cost structures, and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce delays
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations; report incidents and hazards promptly
- Collaborate with internal teams (Product, IT, Finance) as core member of the Operations team to streamline process flow and data collection as well as order management, and customer experience
- Travel regularly (2–3 times per week) to our site in Maasmechelen, Belgium, to monitor and coordinate implementation of logistics processes
Your Profile
- 5+ years in logistics, dispatch, or transportation management, ideally in scrap metal recycling, production, waste management, or related industry
- Strong understanding of transport modes, carrier management, and international trade documentation
- Knowledge of customs, import/export compliance, and environmental regulations relevant to scrap transport
- Solid understanding of digital workflows, computer literacy and proficiency with standard computer applications
- Familiarity with weighbridge systems, ERP/dispatch tools, ticket reconciliation; experience with dispatch/fleet software is a plus
- Hands-on experience with heavy-equipment or industrial logistics, familiarity with with scrap grading (ferrous and non-ferrous metals) preferred
- Strong knowledge of transportation and safety best practices for heavy goods, including DOT rules where applicable
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license, a license to operate forklifts and font loaders as well as willingness to travel occasionally
- Ideally based in Cologne, Germany with a valid work permit
