Your Tasks And Responsibilities

• Leaps by Bayer is the strategic investment arm of Bayer. Leaps invests in teams pursuing fundamental breakthroughs in life science, targeting ten huge challenges facing humanity. Some call them impossible. We call them "Leaps." In agriculture, we support entrepreneurs and innovations that could nourish a growing population while restoring the planet.
• We are seeking a Summer Associate within our Leaps Crop Science team.As part of a focused internship program aimed at MBAs and PhDs, you willbe joining a team of high-performing MBAs, PhDs and technologists thatis constantly looking for new ways of conducting business, engaging ourcustomers, modernizing our platforms and applying data and analytics.The ability to couple business opportunities with breakthroughtechnologies lends itself to a unique opportunity within ourorganization.
• Reporting to the Director of VentureInvestments for Leaps, you will be assigned two discrete, high-visibility projects focused on leveraging existing Bayer Crop Scienceassets to look into new emerging fields of digital, biotech, chemistry,and agronomy to identify new investment opportunities to be presented toa panel of senior leadership at the end of the summer.

Who You Are

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an MBA or a graduate degree with emphasis in strategy, finance, agronomy, biology, or chemistry;
• In-depth study or experience with biology, chemistry, agronomy, foodtech and/or digital agriculture;
• Build financial models, pro forma cap tables, map out resources, risks and operational implications for agriculture business and enable comparisons to current and future competitors;
• 2+ years’ experience with strategic planning, market research, financial modeling or portfolio management, required;
• Strong quantitative analytical skills and training;
• Demonstrated ability in reducing complex concepts and putting innovation ideas to practice;
• Results-oriented with a strong sense of urgency;
• Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and presentation. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong ability to influence and motivate people through formal & informal channels;
• Experience working in a financial investment institution (VC, private equity, etc);
• 2+ years with a top-tier management consulting or financial services firm;
• Knowledge and experience of intellectual property. 

Employees can expect to be paid an hourly salary of approximately between $41.00 to $56.80. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..  This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
