The Assistant Manager Environment and Energy will be responsible for supporting the Environment and Sustainability Manager in developing, implementing, and monitoring the Keolis-MHI Energy Efficiency & Modelling programme and framework within the Dubai Metro and Tram contracts. The role will also provide expert guidance on continuous improvement initiatives to QHSE, Operations, and Engineering & Maintenance management teams. In addition, the Assistant Manager will support the Manager Environment and Sustainability in the delivery of environmental, energy, and sustainability programmes, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, driving sustainability initiatives, and fostering ongoing improvement in alignment with Keolis-MHI’s strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities include leading the development of an Energy Efficiency strategy to ensure operational energy risks are clearly identified, accurately assessed, and effectively managed to meet legal obligations. The role will also oversee the management of energy efficiency data, ensuring accuracy and integrity for reporting and analysis, and will prepare precise monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on the environmental and energy performance of Dubai Metro and Tram operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic
- Assist in the development and implementation of Planet strategy including Energy, Environment and Sustainability.
- Support compliance with local, federal, and international environmental regulations.
- Contribute to long-term sustainability projects, such as carbon management and climate change adaptation.

Financial
- Identify cost reduction opportunities through energy efficiency measures.
- Ensure compliance with financial and legal requirements related to energy and environmental projects.
- Monitor budgets and expenditures for sustainability initiatives.
- Review or negotiate energy purchase agreements.
- Broad understanding of the financial penalties aligned to KPI’s (where relevant).
Stakeholder/ Customer
- Act as a liaison with RTA, contractors, and consultants on environment and sustainability matters.
- Consult with the operations and maintenance team, construction or renovation contractors or other engineers on topics such as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) or Green Buildings.
- Represent Keolis-MHI in environmental and sustainability forums.
- Deliver training and awareness programmes to staff and stakeholders.
- Promote awareness or use of alternative or renewable energy sources.
- Actively supports and collaborate with others in QHSE, KM & contractors to deliver KM requirements.
Operational
- Lead the Energy Efficiency & Modelling Programme.
- Monitor environmental performance indicators such as air quality, waste, and noise.
- Ensure all operational projects comply with ISO 50001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Complete Environment Inspections at all Dubai Metro and Tram locations
- Manage the development, design, or construction of energy conservation projects to ensure acceptability of budgets and timelines, conformance to federal and local laws, or adherence to approved specifications.
- Advise Keolis-MHI and RTA on topics such as climate control systems, energy modelling, data logging, sustainable design, or energy auditing.
- Collect data for energy conservation analyses, using jobsite observation, field inspections, or sub-metering.
- Conduct energy audits to evaluate energy use and to identify conservation and cost reduction measures.
- Direct the implementation of energy management projects.
- Identify and recommend energy savings strategies to achieve more energy efficient operation, including best fuel for specific sites or circumstances.
- Monitor and analyse energy consumption.
- Perform energy modelling, measurement, verification, commissioning, or retro commissioning.
- Prepare energy-related reports or related documentation.
- Verify energy bills and meter readings.
- Research renewable or alternative energy systems or technologies, such as solar thermal or photovoltaic energy.
- Review architectural, mechanical, or electrical plans or specifications to evaluate energy efficiency.
- Analyse, interpret, or create graphical representations of energy data, using engineering software.
- Inspect or monitor energy systems, including heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) or daylighting systems to determine energy use or potential energy savings.
- Write or install energy management routines for building automation systems.
Capability/ People
- Mentor junior staff such as university interns as well as staff across the wider KM organization interested in further developing their skills and knowledge in the field of Environment and Sustainability.
- Build organisational knowledge and capability in environmental management.
- Act as deputy to the Manager Environment and Sustainability when required.
- Train personnel or relevant stakeholders on topics such as environment and energy management.

- Office environment: Whilst predominantly operating in normal business hours, there may be the need from time to time to vary work hours which may include some early morning, afternoon, or evening work start times. The position will also provide coverage of the QHSE on call roster, and there may also be some occasional travel required.
