This role will be based remotely in Tokyo, Japan, with occasional travel to Yamagata upon client request. We’re seeking a seasoned SAP QM Consultant who can lead the Quality Management workstream and take ownership of large-scale transformation projects in the near future.

Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior SAP QM Consultant to support a life sciences transformation program with a strong focus on quality process alignment, compliance, and operational readiness. This role is designed for professionals who can bridge business and IT teams, as well as the cultural gap between a global team and local Japanese operations and expectations, with deep expertise in SAP Quality Management and Japanese audit and regulation requirements.
- Serve as the primary liaison between quality assurance team and SAP functional experts for Quality Management and Compliance.
- Lead business process mapping and ensure alignment with global standards and SAP QM best practices tailored to local Japanese operations.
- Conduct workshops and requirement-gathering sessions with QA, manufacturing, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Translate quality and compliance needs into clear functional specifications and guide implementation, training and testing teams.
- Support system testing, data validation, and cutover activities from a quality operations perspective.
- Contribute to training materials and change management initiatives focused on quality teams.
- Ensure SAP QM processes support compliance, traceability, and audit-readiness within regulated environments, aligned with Japanese pharma and life science standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of QM with modules such as MM, PP, EWM, and PM.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with SAP, including deep expertise in the QM module and familiarity with MM, PP, SD, EWM, and PM integration points.
- Proven experience in global or regional SAP implementations, including at least 2 full-cycle SAP QM deployments.
- Strong understanding of quality planning, inspection processes, non-conformance handling, and audit management.
- Advanced configuration skills in SAP QM (e.g., inspection lots, quality notifications, control plans, results recording, documentation and usage decisions).
- Ability to communicate complex SAP concepts in simple, actionable business terms.
- Knowledge of compliance and validation requirements in GxP (Good x Practice) environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Japanese (JLPT N2 or higher) and English, both written and verbal.
- Adaptability to dynamic, fast-paced project environments.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
Experience in regulated industries such as life sciences, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, healthcare, food, or consulting.
