Optus is an Australian telecommunications company, delivering more than 11 million services to our customers every day across mobile, broadband and digital solutions.

Are you a trusted investigator who thrives under pressure and knows how to keep evidence defensible while keeping investigations moving?

We’re seeking a strategic and technically skilled Director, Forensics and eDiscovery to lead our forensic investigations and electronic discovery functions. This role is critical to ensuring our organisation can respond confidently to incidents, inquiries, and litigation matters—preserving trust and reducing risk.

You’ll lead a specialist team, govern forensic and eDiscovery platforms, and partner closely with Legal, HR, Risk, and senior leadership to deliver accurate, timely, and regulator-ready outcomes.

What You’Ll Do

  • Design, implement, and mature forensic and eDiscovery programs across the organisation.
  • Direct investigations into cyber incidents, fraud, insider threats, and policy breaches.
  • Govern the full eDiscovery lifecycle—from identification and preservation to review and production.
  • Ensure all evidence handling meets chain of custody and legal defensibility standards.
  • Oversee forensic and eDiscovery platforms (e.g. EnCase, Nuix, Axiom, FTK, Cellebrite).
  • Provide senior advisory support during major incidents and breaches.
  • Deliver executive-ready reports and metrics on forensic readiness and investigative outcomes.
  • Lead forensic readiness testing and validation exercises.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing team with deep technical and investigative expertise.
  • Collaborate with Legal, HR, and Compliance to align investigative outcomes with regulatory and business requirements.

What You Bring

  • A background in digital forensics, cyber security, incident response, or law.
  • Deep expertise in forensic methodologies and tools, including disk, mobile, cloud, and memory forensics.
  • Strong technical knowledge across Linux, MacOS, Windows, and cloud environments.
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive investigations discreetly and effectively.
  • Familiarity with forensic and eDiscovery platforms such as EnCase, Nuix, Relativity, FTK, and Cellebrite.
  • Strong understanding of evidence handling, chain of custody, and legal defensibility.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex findings into clear, executive-ready insights.
  • Skilled stakeholder engagement across Legal, HR, Compliance, and regulators.

This is a high-trust, high-impact role for someone who balances forensic rigour with business pragmatism. If you’re ready to lead investigations that protect people, data, and reputation—while strengthening forensic readiness—we’d love to hear from you!
