Summary

Paragon is seeking a Staff Scientist II/III to support a wide range of environmental projects.  Primary duties will include providing data analysis, research, and technical consultation; supporting proposal preparation; preparing planning documents; leading field activities; and preparing after action reports.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support the Project Chemist and staff with planning, coordination, and quality assurance requirements and specifications for laboratories and data validators
  • Create and QC sample tables, using Earthsoft EQuIS and Excel
  • Manage analytical data via EQuIS, ERPIMS, FUDSChem, and Scribe
  • Provide support to document authors and field staff as an analytical chemistry or data management SME
  • Prepare SOPs, QAPPs, data validation and assessment reports, and other work plan documentation
  • Oversee staff who manage the storage, usage and disposal and associated documentation of hazardous materials and hazardous waste
  • Support proposal efforts by obtaining vendor quotes, writing technical approaches, and developing cost sheets
  • Other duties as assigned

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in chemistry, environmental science, data management, or similar; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Eight to ten (8-10) years’ experience in environmental remediation and investigation activities
  • Experience with CERCLA and RCRA regulations and processes
  • Ability to travel

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Must have a strong working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software (MSWord, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook

Work Environment

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure o electronic office equipment. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and loud noise. 

Supervisory Responsibilities

·         No supervisory responsibilities.

Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
